Meet kCAne MarkCO The Midwest Juggernaut

Midwest spitter kCAne MarkCO (@kCAneMarkCO) aka the “Midwest Juggernaut” hails from St. Louis “All parts,” says the man with family across the map. His magnetic personality has gained him friends across the globe and the growing respect of ears in the industry. A fresh sign of his increasing recognition is the custom made Zaytoven track for MarkCO’s most recent single “Fit N Thick II.” Zaytoven and MarkCO worked together in-studio to get this joint just right and completed a video for the single as well.

Zaytoven gave a brief mention of MarkCO in an interview with The Hype Magazine at the recent South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX. Zaytoven acknowledged his joint with kANe MarkCO in his comments about giving opportunities to exceptional new talent. You can view Zaytoven’s observations on The Hype Magazine’s Periscope.tv Channel (http://Periscope.TV/TheHypeMagazine).

“Fit N Thick II” is an ode to two of the biggest loves in kCAne MarkCO’s life, fitness, and music. Before focusing on music, kCAne earned a degree in Exercise Science and branched into personal training and fitness competitions including Strongman. He’s won a few championship trophies in his day and continues as an active proponent of fitness and self-acceptance. According to this fitness pro, it’s ok to be thick as long as you are healthy. Thus the motivation for the song and the well shot visual for it…message sent!

In describing his style kCAne, MarkCO says, “I try to project realism, what you hear, that’s what I’m living. I don’t put on,” he concludes.

Independent of being in the right circles, kCAne MarkCO’s forward momentum is ignited by the philosophy of, “Be a doer and a pursuer,” which he attributes to his fallen brother A1 the last Drop, kCAne MarkCO has etched his name in the tablet with pure grit and grind.

Where has his life journey taken him?!

Born and Raised in the Lou (St. Louis) all sides, Kane MarkCO began spittin rhymes in cyphers on corners and at parks in his hood, eventually making his way to the Crooked I (Indiana) through the Chi (Chicago). It’s apparent from his demeanor and delivery style that each of these regions had their impact on him as each offered different life experiences. As he grew from Thinker to Doer, MarkCO expanded his horizons as an entrepreneur.

MarkCO took a hiatus from music for a bit, living the life of a personal trainer after he earned his degree. His re-entry into the music fray by way of Fit N Thick II, which he describes as “My baby,” and is a combination of two major dimensions of the man and perfectly timed for the cultural climate. “It’s about being healthy but at the same time looking good and feeling good, you know if you look good, you feel good,” he says.

A chance meeting brought MarkCO and Zaytoven together. “That was a blessing right there,” says MarkCO, “Us bumping into each other and getting the project done as well as completing the video for it. We were also blessed to feature Zashia M. Santiago…giving us a chance to play with the big boy;, so this has to be my favorite project hands down working with that!

Saying that Zaytoven is one of the producers out right now he feels have a lot of integrity, MarkCO acknowledges that if Zaytoven doesn’t like the project, you can’t buy the beat. All this makes the project even more unique.

“I respect an artist/producer that gets behind his work like that. Your name is going out, that’s your stamp of approval every time your name goes out,” declares MarkCO Humbly he adds, “I don’t put myself up there with the best of the best, I’m just blessed to be where I’m at so I’ll take it.”

Overall Rating 4/5: “Fit N Thick” has an extremely relevant, timely and important message in this day where, people of all ages struggle with identity, self-acceptance and an overwhelming concern with how they live. One has to wonder just how many classes of “second class citizens” actually exist, even if in just the mind of the individual since everyone is unique. It’s much rarer in Hip Hop to espouse the self-acceptance philosophy when it’s about the latest gear, hottest body, and ability or lack thereof, to name drop. MarkCO, Zaytoven came with it at the perfect time! Sonics are on point, and Hip Hop is well served with the delivery and content. As a bonus, MarkCO stands up as a man to revive the mantra, “So Cosmo says you’re fat, well I ain’t down with that…” (Sir Mix A Lot)

His sound?

Insiders declare it’s hard to say whom he sounds like because he sounds like himself. When he raps, it’s just him having a conversation, that just happens to rhyme. It would seem that he does this because he loves it. No better reason than that!

Projections for the future of kCAne MarkCO and Nu Nation Entertainment record label include a cast of talented young lions of whom he speaks highly in his interview; Black_NRC; Melvin Oaks aka C.B.G. and Squadgang Turk. These are more than artists to him; he’s stepping up to the plate as an elder and helping to make a way for these youngsters. With a key to development and proper instruction, Nu Nation as a label is more than just a distribution point.

2017 appears to be an early sign of what’s to come as “Fit N Thick” has begun a groundswell of popularity for the lyrical style and content of kCAne MarkCO…and it’s still early!
