New Wyclef EP prepares fans for upcoming album
Wyclef Jean has released the highly anticipated EP J’ouvert. J’ouvert, meaning the official start of Carnival, comes in advance of a full length album aptly titled Carnival III: Road To Clefication. The full length album will release this summer, on the 20th anniversary of Wyclef’s critically acclaimed debut The Carnival. To celebrate, Wyclef has premiered the track “Holding On The Edge” featuring Walk The Moon via i-D.
The digital version of J’ouvert includes 4 exclusive tracks including a cover of the classic French song ‘Ne Me Quitte Pas’ by Jacque Brel. Previously released tracks from the EP include “If I Was President 2016,” “I Swear” feat. Young Thug, and “Life Matters.”
Wyclef is known for his wealth of musical influences from jazz to classic rock to reggae. With his critically acclaimed, Grammy nominated debut The Carnival, he launched himself as a producer and solo artist whose work drew from elements of pop, country, folk, disco, Latin, and electronic music. As a solo artist, Wyclef Jean has released six albums that have sold nearly nine million copies worldwide, including 1997’s The Carnival and 2000’s The Ecleftic: 2 Sides II a Book.
Additionally, Wyclef will be inducted into The New Jersey Hall of Fame class of 2016. He will join 15 other inductees to be honored on May 7 at Convention Hall in Asbury Park.
