Bryson Tiller Album Preview

A preview of the Bryson Tiller (@brysontiller) album, True 2 Self, as his latest release of three singles ride the new wave of trap soul.  Tiller is prepped to set the vibe for lovers all Summer ’17.

Bryson Tiller  of Louisville, Kentucky stepped on the scene in 2010. Greatly known from his debut album Trap Soul, Tiller has plans to drop sophomore album True 2 Self, June 23. Obviously drawing inspiration from baseball Hall of Famer, Ken Griffey with moniker Pen Griffey. The slight wordplay gives the concept of each album an interesting edge. Tiller released three singles this weekend. True 2 Self is going to be a classic r&b album based on those tracks presented in his sauce dripped lyrical format. Tiller brings all the love laced poetic flows that interest a woman, while keeping it authentic to the new wave of hip hop inspired up-tempo r&b popular today. Greatly known from his debut, Trap Soul he has spacey production and experimental tenor vocals. His tenure in the industry has been short. This mix-tape is a hidden gem for r&b lovers. Aside from the typical flossing Pen Griffey has a genuine sex vibe from a swaggy perspective. While this singles cater to the woman, the seductive lyrics embrace basic hook-ups. “Somethin Tells Me”: is a ballad about making things right in a relationship. As the mix-tape continues you’re validated in the ups and downs of having a love life in 2017. The track “Get Mine” discusses upward mobility or advancement to the top of the game, and features the controversial Young Thug.  These baselines crush the tempo, and elevate the concept of blues, jazz, and classic r&b

Pen Griffey pens delectable vocals on the track, Honey, sampling classic 90’s R&B, Christopher Williams, “Every Little Thing U Do.” This preview is extended play, EP, only composed of 3 tracks. Romance is alive with this album, and for this generation that’s a rare quality. I consider artist like Bryson Tiller to be quality control pushing less talented R&B artist out of the spotlight, yet still introducing the listener to new sounds and vibes.  Tiller brings the new wave of “New Jack Swing”.  Although availability of this tape is a shortcoming, and it is only on select media outlets, the album will release globally.
