Cinco de Mayo with Expedia

It is Cinco de Mayo and The Hype magazine is heading south with great deals from Expedia. Winter is finally over and it’s time to get in the festive spirit. Today marks the day of summer fun! Mexico is a top travel destination. Learn about the awesome deals through May 8 and all the great things you can do to save in Mexico this Cinco de Mayo. So, whether you are looking to chill on the beach or have an adventure, Mexico is a well rounded destination for any traveler.

Sarah, let’s face it, we’re ready to start booking our trips to warmer climates for a sunshine-getaway. Where should we go?

Cinco de Mayo is one of our favorite celebrations at Expedia! We celebrate it every year with big sales and this year is no exception. So, from now through May 8, we’ve got amazing deals all over Mexico for great hotels that are about 50 percent off. Mexico is the number one international destination for American travelers. Every year we’re seeing an increased demand into places like Kington and Los Cabos and in Mexico City. Across the board which is great to see. It’s one of my favorite destinations. I think one of the biggest reasons especially looking at it over the summer is it kind of checks all the boxes! You want to save money, you want to have a lot of amazing things to do, and you want to have amazing weather! Mexico’s got you covered.

Most of us are restricted by tight budgets and limited vacation time when it comes to traveling. How can we find the best deals to accommodate both?

So, the biggest thing you want to do is book your flight and your hotel at the exact same time. When you book your flight and your hotel together, you can save on average across all destinations up to about $600. Mexico is really a hidden gem! When it comes to this kind of package. You can save up to $1,400 on your trip just by booking your flight and hotel at the exact same time.

Are there particular “sun and sand” locations that offer specials at this time of year?

I mean it’s really across Mexico but I’ll give you a great example — so in Cancun there’s this great hotel called the Royal Solaris that’s part of this big Cinco de Mayo sale that we’re doing. On the average day, if you were to go to book a room at the Grand Solaris, it would cost you about $1,100 a person. Now because of this this pack of slight packaging — we were talking about and because of the Cinco DeMayo sale — it will only cost you $895 dollars to stay there on average versus $1100. That $895 includes your flight too! I mean that’s like massive savings.

We talk a lot of family friendly destinations, romantic getaways, spring breakers… Is there a certain type of traveler that should be considering Mexico?

You know I’ll say I go to Mexico all the time. It’s my favorite destination and I’ve gone on a girlfriend’s trips to Mexico. I go to Mexico with just my husband. I’ve got four kids and so we take our four kids to Mexico so I can testify the fact that Mexico really is great for lots of different traveler types. There’s so many different activities to do! You know, last time I took the kids down we did ziplining, we rode camels on the beach, we did snorkeling and so there were so many different activities! If you want to have an active adventurous trip, you can do that. If you want to just lay by the beach all day you can do that too. So, it really is a great destination for lots of lots and lots of different people.
