As you see your self, who is Young D Tha champion?
I see myself as a very talented artist, more so than just a rapper. I call myself a champion because I excel in all aspects of music. I’m very musically inclined and a rare breed, being that I can make so many styles of music and still stay relevant to what people enjoy, as well as being lyrical. That’s rare these days. You either get one or the other, I can do both. I can win in every area. A champion.

What brought you to the entertainment industry and music specifically?
I’ve always enjoyed music. Growing up, my mom was really into singing. She never really pursued it as a career but she was very talented. So, people would ask her to do hooks for their songs, feature verses, etc. As a result I was often in the studio with her. Watching her and being around music so much, I gained an interest in wanting to pursue it myself.

What and/or who influenced the sound you bring today?
I can honestly say, nobody has influenced my sound. That’s what I think separates me so much. I have my own unique style and I don’t sound like anyone else. I love that the most about myself as an artist. I do my own thing.

What’s happened in your career that makes you feel this is the industry for you?
The feedback and opportunities I receive. My aka that I go by is, “the best rapper you never heard”. Since I made my first song, I’ve always been told I should pursue a career in music because I was good at it. Every time someone new hears me rap, or my music, I get great feedback about being talented. This motivated me to take it seriously, give it my all and really pursue this as a career. I feel I can provide great music that people will love.

What was the biggest obstacle in getting to your current career phase?
My biggest obstacle was just doing it! I had to see the vision. I was involved in so many other things that I didn’t put as much time in my music as I should’ve. Once I started to, I’ve gone further and further. I’ve been leveling up ever since. It’s nothing to it but to do it. Once I started doing music, more and more opportunities opened up. Now, it’s time to continue and take things even further.

What do you want people to get from your music?
This is one of my favorite questions. The answer is everything! My versatility in my music allows me to make so many
different types of songs. I like to call my cds a “one stop shop.” I’ve got a song that’ll fit your mood no matter what that
mood is. People tend to have certain cds they listen to. One for their club nights, work days, chill days, etc. You can listen to my cd and get all them vibes on one cd. The most you’ll have to do is change the song according to the vibe you are in. With
good lyrics, story telling, and great production, you get everything you need from my music.

Tell us about your current project?
I’m currently pushing a single called “Level Up.” This is my newest release and I have big plans for it. This song definitely has what it takes to be a hit single and that’s where we are headed with it. It’s also featured in The Hype Magazine! Check it out and add it to your playlist.

What do you feel has been your greatest life achievement so far?
My greatest life achievement so far is pursuing my career. I have so much passion and love for music, doing it makes me very proud. They always say “Pick a career that you’ll enjoy doing for the rest of your life.” I’ve found mine!

If you could collaborate with one artist, living or dead, who would it be and why?
Celene Dion. I’ve been a fan of hers forever. I absolutely love her voice, I think she’s an amazing singer. Doing a song with her would be an honor and I think we would make something dope!

If you had to pick one song of yours, that really explains you, what would it be?
“Level up!” I’m always the one that’s motivated to keep getting better in life, achieving goals, having fun, motivating people around me. It’s always room to better yourself and go further in life that’s exactly what “Level Up” is about.

Last but not least, The Hype Magazine wants to know…What’s your craziest “Where they do that at?!” moment…
I’ve had songs stolen from me. I mean from the lyrics to the delivery, they copied it all. Instead of being original they jacked my whole concept and didn’t give credit where it’s due. This is hip -hop! Where they do that at??!!
