Live From London: Traveling to Great Brittan

August is a perfect time to travel to Great Brittan. According to Expedia, there are many reasons to go. From a generous exchange rate, to new exhibitions, Great Brittan is the place to be. The American dollar is doing well against the pound, and as the weather warms up, its time to start thinking about that summer time get away.  But what is the best way to save? Lisa Perkovic is the Expedia Group Global Managing Editor and she joins The Hype magazine live from London to tells us exactly how and when to save. Now is the ideal time to travel, sharing a few tips and tricks that unlock the door to great destinations and deals in throughout Europe and especially in Great Brittan.

Lisa, why is this the ideal time to travel abroad?

It’s fantastic time for Americans to head abroad this summer especially if they’re thinking about going to Great Britain. I am in London at the moment and the sun is shining and I have to tell you, the American dollar is so strong against the pound at the moment. It’s fantastic value for your money!

What makes Great Britain such an exciting destination for Americans this year?

Absolutely! Americans are huge travelers and Great Britain is a great place to go because there’s so many different types of adventures they can have. I’m a history buff, but I love the Royals and the palaces. So, I’m going to go check out the Kensington palaces new exhibition on Princess Diana, but I have to tell you I’m also a big Harry Potter fan. It’s the 20th anniversary of the first book being published this year and at Expedia you can book a Harry Potter studio tour and check out the new Forbidden Forest exhibition. That’s a good one if you have families really bring some magic to life in the place where it all began.

When and where can we save the most?

Good question! So, what you can look at doing is flying into some of the regional airports so somewhere like Edinburgh and Glasgow you can get some great savings. I would tell you to be savvy and book a package. You can save up to 35 percent just by bundling your flight and hotel together. That can be as much as $1800 that you could spend going to a West End show or staying in a nicer part of town.

What impact does currency exchange have on travel abroad?

Great Britain’s guarantee is fantastic for Americans at the moment not just because of that exchange rate, it means that your dollar will go a lot further. So, even just going to show eating out really fantastic deals for you to have. As I said, we have those great package savings and we’re also seeing that August is a good month for people to travel, you can save, its 15 percent cheaper than traveling in June and July, which means you’ve got a few months now to book that trip in.

Finally, where can our viewers go for more information?
