Some things you just gotta have if you are a lover of Hip-Hop and especially the if you appreciate the Houston sound. Z-Ro (@ZROMOCITYDONjust delivered what in my opinion, will be an essential album from his lifetime of work. “No Love Boulevard, slated to be the Master MC’s final album, is some of the best storytelling laced with metaphoric details of his rise. If you are a fan of Z-Ro, this one is a full service project that leaves no loose ends. 5/5 ~ JD

Here’s the official line on the release of No Love Boulevard

Yesterday, one of Houston’s most iconic MC’s, the self-proclaimed King of the Ghetto and the Mo City Don himself, Z-Ro, unleashed his final album, No Love Boulevard [One Deep Entertainment/EMPIRE]—in select stores and at all digital retailers. Upon going live, the record immediately climbed into the Top 10 of iTunes Top Hip-Hop/Rap Albums Chart where it’s remained.

The 14 anthems on No Love Boulevard come to life like a rap master class taught by one of the South’s foremost luminaries. Whether it’s the powerhouse delivery of “Belong to the Streets” or the slick and smooth soul of the new single “From The Other Side,” he serves up one unforgettable bar after another. Everything concludes on the thought-provoking “He’s Not Done,” casting his recorded legacy in pure lyrical fire once and for all.

In support of the record, Z-Ro has quite literally been everywhere this month. He recently discussed the album in-depth with VIBE, Respect, and on Microphone Check. Moreover, he continues to garner critical acclaim. About “From The Other Side,” XXL raved, “The H-Town rapper has been dropping one excellent song after another, showcasing how consistent he’s been for his entire career. ‘From The Other Side’ is vintage Ro, complete with him singing his ass off on the hook.

Adding to his already impressive resume, which includes hip-hop icon and entrepreneur, Z-Ro has also emerged as a preeminent radio voice. He recently launched his own iHeart Radio Show “Angry Justice” alongside co-host and former police officer, Harvard-educated attorney, and judge Charles “Big Angry” Adams. Discussing controversial issues with no holds barred and sharp and smart perspectives on both sides, the program airs 4-6pm every Saturday. Since debuting in April, it’s brought the “Texas Odd Couple” into the national spotlight to a massive audience.

Of the show, Houston Press claimed, “There’s a depth to the Mo City Don that not everyone gets to know, especially when you try to peer through his trademark black shades.

No Love Boulevard follows the impressive 2016 one-two punch of Drankin’ & Drivin’ and Legendary. Of Drankin’ & Drivin’, Pitchfork wrote, “Z-Ro sounds like what Houston feels like—hot, inviting, intimidating if you take a wrong turn, but redemptive if you stick around long enough,” and VIBE said, “Texas veteran Z-Ro has just added another chapter to his growing catalog. It’s 2016, and his impact on hip-hop culture is undeniable. Everyone from A$AP Rocky to Drake—who has been known to perform Z-Ro’s classic freestyle “Mo City Don”—have been influenced by the Houston legend.”
