“Word.” is the first official release of a project from Baby Cate. It’s probably the first you’ve even heard of the young rapper, but it certainly won’t be the last.

Cate was “born in the south, raised in the east, and lives her life in between.” as she likes to say. With her mother’s side of the family living in New Orleans, she feels like it’s almost home. Currently going to college in New York, the school doesn’t keep her from making music.

The 4-track project released independently has listeners thinking and “vibing” at the same time. From the politically charged first track “So What” to the last party song “Up,” this EP is an easy listen. Involved one hundred percent in everything down to the artwork for her music, the 20-year-old put the 4-track project together in about one week, but with careful detail (minus the bad photoshop job). Each song is different, in concept and sound, which really makes “Word.” great.
