Five Questions With Jafunk:

Jafunk, the 25 year old music producer / DJ from Australia currently residing in London is known for his soulful chords, funky bass lines and luscious lead solos.

Over the last 3 years Jafunk has released a variety of originals and remixes, being featured on YouTube channels such as Selected, Majestic Casual, Fhinq Music and more. His remix of Australian duo Set Mo’s tune ‘Chasing Forever’ put Jafunk into the spotlight with a Majestic Casual upload and over 700,00 plays on Spotify. His music has been supported by the likes of Oliver Heldens, Zimmer, Oliver Nelson, Golf Clap, and many other music tastemakers.

In 2016 he moved to London to pursue music in the city that has inspired his music so much, and has had the opportunity to DJ alongside artists such as Fred Falke, SG Lewis, NVOY and Just Kiddin. Currently working on his debut EP, there are big things in the pipeline for Jafunk.

The Hype Magazine got Jafunk to weigh in from London, giving us an official rundown!

As you see yourself, who is Jafunk?

Jafunk is a guy that loves music. I write, produce and play music at any given opportunity, and anything with Funk/Soul/Jazz and you’ve got my attention.

Tell us about your current project?

I began Jafunk in 2013 after downloading Ableton and writing music with very little knowledge of what I was doing. I took inspiration from guys like Disclosure, Detroit Swindle, Kartell, FKJ and much more. Over the last 4 years I’ve taught myself how to play keys, worked hard on my production, always with the aim of producing interesting, quality music. My goal is to release unique dance music and play it out across the globe.

What’s on your bucket list to accomplish as an entertainer?

Right now I’m working towards DJing at festivals/clubs and clubs across the world, and incorporating my keyboard playing into a live set. I’d love to be able to play a whole live set of original music, similar to the likes of Disclosure, FKJ, Tom Misch etc.

Will you be finishing out 2017 on the road or what’s on your horizon for 2018?

2017 has been a year all about writing music and collaborating with as many artists as possible. I’m currently getting the music together for a debut EP, basing myself in a studio in North London. Hopefully, the EP will be out later this year, so that 2018 can be full of touring! I’d love to do a big Europe tour, and play in the US – somewhere I’ve never been before!

The Hype Magazine wants to know: What’s been your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?! Or “WTF?!” moment thus far in your career?

My craziest moment this year was definitely playing my first set at Koko nightclub in London – In 2016 I took a big leap moving from Australia to London, and the way the people of London reacted to my music gave me a feeling I’ll never forget.
