In celebration of the world’s most iconic and beloved entertainer, Cirque du Soleil® (@Cirque) is once again teaming up with the Estate of Michael Jackson to celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday. Hosted by Michael Jackson ONE, the fifth annual birthday bash will take place on Michael’s actual birthday, Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Michael Jackson ONE Theater at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Beginning at 3 p.m., guests are invited to get a rare, sneak peek “behind the curtain” of the acclaimed show and will have the opportunity to observe ONE cast members as they rehearse for the evening’s performance, as well as get an exclusive inside look at what it takes to make a scene change onstage. During the rehearsal, there will also be a Q&A with acrobats from the show and a chance to win prizes playing a short game of Michael Jackson ONE trivia.
“We want to go above and beyond to make this an unforgettable experience,” said Jason Pelusio, company manager for Michael Jackson ONE. “In addition to ‘peeking behind the curtain,’ guests will be able to interact with members of the Estate and their special invited guests as part of this special annual celebration.”

As in prior years, the cast of Michael Jackson ONE have once again used their talents to create a specially choreographed number not from the show as their own way of paying tribute to the King of Pop on this special day. This year, they have chosen the song “Blood on the Dance Floor” for this one-time-only performance. Guests will receive a commemorative T-shirt to take home in remembrance of the special day.
Following the performance, guests can stop at the Michael Jackson ONE Boutique, which will be hosting a special book signing by Michael Bush, Michael Jackson’s designer and dresser for 25 years, who will be signing copies of his book The King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson at 4 p.m.
The final activity of the celebratory afternoon will be a “meet and greet” birthday cake reception with members of the Michael Jackson Estate team and their VIP guests as well as cast members of Michael Jackson ONE. The reception will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the theater lobby.
Tickets are now on sale for the 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. shows on Tuesday, Aug. 29. On Monday, Aug. 21, world-famous gymnast and Team USA Olympic champion Laurie Hernandez visited the critically acclaimed show Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. Inspired by the production’s world-class talent, the young star kicked off her day with an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at the theatre, where she learned choreography from the show with some of her favorite artists. Later that evening, she dined at Libertine Social – one of the many fine restaurants on property at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino – concluding the unforgettable trip with tickets to ONE and a special meet-and-greet with cast members.

This past weekend, it was a family affair at Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil® as Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis visited the show with her mother, husband (Julius Tennon) and daughter Genesis on Saturday, Aug. 19. Star of critically acclaimed films such as Fences, Suicide Squad, The Help and ABC’s hit television series How to Get Away with Murder, the world-famous actress and her loved ones were seen taking in the early performance, also enjoying a special backstage tour and meet-and-greet with cast members from the show. Rounding out their Las Vegas adventure, the group later made their way to Rivea Las Vegas, where they savored a delicious Italian and French Riviera-inspired dinner from renowned chef Alain Ducasse.
