Ta’Shan ‘High’ (U.S. Video Premiere)

Ta’Shan

I haven’t had this much fun discovering international talent in quite some time. Swiss-Indian singer Ta’Shan made music discovery in August worth while…a breath of fresh air so to speak. Not that our ladies over here aren’t doing their thing but they don’t have the accent!!!

Here’s the official line on this songbird from Europe who’s making her name here in the states with her high energy joints!

From the off-set, ‘High’ is packed with multicultural spice and flavour. Indian culture meets the depth and soul of R&B, and the raw edge of Trap, making a unique sound that Ta’Shan has self-coined as ‘RnTrap with a hint of India’, which stands out beyond comparison in her brand new single.

The Swiss-Indian singer, who grew up in Switzerland but now resides in London, is impactful in every sense of the word. From her flawless vocals, captivating lyrics through to her striking looks, Ta’Shan clearly strives for perfection in all that she applies herself to. Being fluent in three languages and having studied at the renowned Conservatory of Music in Switzerland, before embarking on studies at The British & Irish Modern Music Institute, has opened the globe to Ta’Shan, for both experiences and influences that she applies to her music.

Considering she is only at the beginning of her musical journey, the young sensation has already amassed an impressive fanbase and a huge instagram following of over 30,000 thanks to previous releases, such as ‘We Get It’ and ‘Remember’, as well as her #BombayMami brand which encompasses the curves, class and sass of the finest and realest London ladies. She has opened shows in Switzerland for the likes of Ryan Leslie, Sean Paul and Lil John, regularly fly’s to the States to work with her numerous contacts and has also made her presence known in the UK. Ta’Shan’s steely determination has seen her beat the queues to work with producers that have a waiting list such as Zede (Post Malone) and New Gen plus she has records in the pipeline with the likes of Konshens, Don-E and TE-dness, all of which pay homage to her purpose and character.

Exploring her roots and allowing culture to encompass the very fabric of who she is as an artist, both inside and out, you cannot bypass Ta’Shan.

This joint had me from the opening note and it made my personal playlist…4/5 for me

Ta’Shan weighed in with The Hype Magazine from across the pond in London, to discuss her career and taking on the Dance Music world soon on this side of the globe. She’s got a great sense of humor as well!!!

Tell us about your current project!

Other than going to interviews and performing my new single, I am eating a lot – these curves don’t grow on trees, you know?

Jokes apart, so far I’ve only been releasing singles and collaborations, as I feel that it only makes sense for me, at this stage of my career, to work on my music single by single in order to grow my fanbase rather than focusing on an album just as yet. Besides, some great UK artists are featured on a few of my songs,  which is definitely a bonus – for instance, I have a song with Konshens that I’m planning to release soon.

I have been recording so many songs in the past few years that I could drop an album – or even more than one! – right now. But it is all about the right timing, and I don’t feel this is the right time for me to release an album, but I’m planning on working on it very soon! 🙂 What I can anticipate you is that I am planning to call my debut album Bombay Mami 🙂

Do you feel your current project is the best introduction to you as an artist?

Well, yes and no… it shows a side of me but I live from moment to moment. I feel like all of my last three singles, including “High”, have all been a really good introduction to me as an artist. They all are a clear representation of my Indian heritage, of what I believe in and what I stand for.

How do you feel your music will stand the test of time outside of Europe? Are we ready for what you bring to the table?

I would describe myself as “a child of the world”, as I’ve always been travelling around the world since I was a kid, so I would definitely say that my music is international and has all it needs to be heard outside of Europe. I really don’t think my music has any boundaries and I feel that if people will like my music, they will like it no matter where it comes from. I just love to make music and I hope people enjoy it as much as I enjoy making it.

What’s on your horizon for 2017?

I have two more singles coming up this year, with really sexy and fun videos matching the songs. As I am a girl who likes to eat, I had to do a song about that for all my fellow food lovers and sexy curvy girls… so expect something “foodie” and “juicy”. Trust me, this next single will definitely be the best way to get to know me, as it will be about food – bring me some food and you will get to know me!

The Hype Magazine wants to know: What’s been your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?! Or “WTF?!” moment thus far in your career?

I was shooting a video for a new song in Abu Dhabi, in the desert, and a camel snapped my wig
