Rising Stars from Nelspruit, MP, South Africa, Lungile Mancoba Mahlabane (17) and Cheslyn Ramon Sanderson (16) Better known by their stage names Lil Treeky and Chessy are Hip-Hop/Rap artists which have joined forces to form the Entertainment group MoonGang in March 2017.
They started working together early 2016 and together they brought up their debut single “Upcoming Views” to 2.3K downloads, this song is based on the views an upcoming artist has over the mainstream and getting on.
Having released this song these artists were wanted all over around Nelspruit, with many live performances, podcast interviews and features just to name a few, but their highlight was dropping their latest single titled “Aight” which made it on several blogs and pages with 200K+ likes, the song caught up to 6.5K downloads and stands as their best works yet. Having done this they formed the Partnership MoonGangEnt but instead of making it a duo they have formed an Entertainment Movement which will, later on, be used as a platform provider for rising artists of any kind to showcase their talent around South Africa and worldwide in future. The artists/founders of MoonGangEnt have recently released a MoonGang Projected Debut EP titled “Timeless” and looking at what these artists are doing at this young age, there is no doubt they are to look out for the future.
The 6 track EP has no features in it and has been produced by Reggie Beatz, Chaotic Beast, Cj keys and Dolla Beatz. It is undeniable that seeing such young artists putting in so much work in their future is motivating.
As you see yourself, who is Lil Treeky and Chessy?
Well that’s quite simple, Lil Treeky and Chessy are the future as it stands, the future leaders of the new school. We don’t consider or describe ourselves as the best rappers alive or anything like that but as artists that can get the job done. Most importantly we see ourselves as brothers, family and the best of friends. Our relationship is way beyond the music and business.
Tell us about your current project?
Timeless is a 6 track Hip-Hop/Rap EP that has been worked on by a total of 5 producers. The EP has a trap sound to it but we made sure there is no bubble gum rap in it. Here we go more about our upcoming career as you will hear on every song we telling a story of how we working hard to get to where we want to be. We named it “Timeless” because we see a vision from the feature, where people will ask one day what is “Moongang” and we will take them back to where it started hence “TimelessEP”. Majority of people have a great response to Track 6 titled “Blow” which is why we made it our lead track for the EP.
What’s on your bucket list to accomplish as an entertainer?
Well on our short-term list, we’ve included breaking out as new artists and keeping everyone supporting the music entertained and ready for new music from us. Seeing the people get excited when our music plays in clubs or events is the most important expect we have, but I guess we already ticked that one off. Our long term goals have to include leaving a successful business for our families “(MoonGang Entertainment) and going down in music history as legends.
Will you be finishing out 2017 on the road or what’s on your horizon for 2018?
We consider 2017 as our foundation. Where it all started, if 2017 doesn’t get us out there competing with some of the Mainstream artists, it will surely prepare us for Lift off in 2018.
The Hype Magazine wants to know: What’s been your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?! Or “WTF?!” moment thus far in your career?
Well we’d go through a very long list but our highlight has to be right after we dropped the EP, the next Monday as we were walking out of school we found a regular transport mini-bus that usually picks up the primary children across the street. It was playing our song blow and the children in the school ran to the mini-bus and started jumping on it and singing along, there were close to 50 primary school children around the mini-bus, one kid jumped on top of the roof on the mini-bus…This was so inspirational cause we just come out of school and find something like this on a random day at school…like wtf??? This is awesome!
