TRETORN HOSTS AUCTION ON EBAY FOR CHARITY FOR THE NYLITE 50 ARTIST SERIES

Proceeds to Benefit Art Start and Brooklyn United Marching Music & Arts Program

Tretorn, the iconic Swedish lifestyle, footwear and outerwear brand will host a Nylite 50 Artist Series online sneaker auction and sweepstakes on eBay’s charity platform, eBay for Charity. This initiative commemorates 50 years of the classic Nylite sneaker and includes the work of André 3000 Benjamin and other artists. The eBay for Charity campaign kicks off today with a sweepstakes and will run until October 9. An auction of all 50 pairs of customized Nylite sneakers will launch October 30 and 100% of the proceeds will benefit Art Start and the Brooklyn United Music & Arts Program.

Tretorn has partnered with artists from around the world asking them to express themselves on the ultimate blank canvas: the Nylite sneaker. The sneakers for the special Nylite 50 Artist Series includes designs by André 3000 Benjamin, Jeff Staple, The Shoe Surgeon, Jayson Atienza, Adele Renault, Samara Shutter among others.

“The artist series has proven to be culturally relevant with artists and tastemakers participating from around the world,” said Natasha Fishman, EVP Marketing ABG, owner of the Tretorn brand. “We are thrilled to partner with eBay for Charity on this initiative and grateful for the opportunity to support young artists in need.”

eBay for Charity and Tretorn’s sweepstakes includes a chance to win a trip for two to ComplexCon, VIP passes to André 3000 Benjamin’s panel discussion, a meet-and-greet with the Grammy Award-winning recording artist and style icon, a pair of sneakers from André’s exclusive Tretorn collaboration capsule and a one of a kind cropped hoodie with original art drawn by André. The customized Nylite 50 Artist Series and André 3000 Benjamin’s exclusive Tretorn capsule collection will both be unveiled at ComplexCon in Long Beach, CA this November. After the sweepstakes, the custom sneakers of the Nylite 50 Artist Series will go up for auction on October 30.

“It’s hard to translate an idea,” André said in this video while drawing on the hoodie included in the sweepstakes grand prize. “’Cool’ can mean a lot of things, but if I draw you actually have something to go off, so sketching has really been a good communicator for me. A lot of what I’m bringing back is just childhood dreaming.”
