RMC2017: The Miami Takeover

The 2017 Revolt Music Conference took over Miami, FL this past weekend with celebrities, parties, hot performances, and ground-breaking panels proving to be bigger and better than years past. From influencers, music executives, and songwriters to producers and bloggers, this energy spewing conference created a collaborative networking space for veterans in the music industry and newbies looking for their once in a lifetime lucky break.

Diddy outdid himself for yet another year by securing performances by some of the hottest artists in the game include the legendary Ms. Lauryn Hill, 2Chainz, French Montana, TI, and Sza.

One of the most talked about panels at this year’s conference was “Hip Hop vs Trump,” a conscious-raising panel featuring T.I. David Banner, Joey Badass, and a host of other artists, journalists, and activists who have a history of speaking out again injustices in the US. Scheduled to last only 45 minutes, this panel went into overtime as the discussion became heated on various topics including the ways that the power of hip hop community can effectively challenge the Trump administration for change, Jemele Hill’s suspension from ESPN, and the NFL kneel/stand situation, the high unemployment rate in African American communities, and other attention-grabbing topics that have arisen since Trump has taken office.

The closing event for this year’s Revolt Music Conference was the RMC Gala Dinner hosted by Sean “Diddy” Combs”  and Andre Harrell where the legendary actress, rapper, singer, and producer Queen Latifah was honored with the prestigious Jimmy Iovine Icon Award for her achievements in business, film, music, and philanthropy.
