Chris Knite (Label Submitted)

Who is Chris Knite? Well, he’s a singer, producer, and songwriter who crossed over from R&B to Hip Hop, Christopher Johnson professionally known as Chris Knite when he steps out from behind the scenes. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Chris Knite first fell for the music of the Jacksons and the Temptations, not straight from their records but from the television biopics that were popular in the early ’90s. Talent shows led to agents, which led to work behind the scenes in music. In 2012 he launched his solo career with the album, I Am Chris Knite, featuring the single Better Man with special guests 3PM, King Burr, and Dave Evans, and others landed on his 2016 effort Love, a self-released EP which led to a recording and management contract with Ruby Recordings. Making the most of his new contract, Chris Knite unleashed a bevy of new singles throughout 2017, followed by the release of his “57” album in September 2017.

Stepping back and speaking from the outside looking in, Who is Chris Knite?

I am first a man of God, father, son, uncle, etc. Music is a part of my DNA. Every song comes from the heart.  It’s hard to sing a song I never lived. Meaning I never shot a gun, so it’s hard to sing about guns. I never smoked drugs, so it’s hard to sing about drugs. I never call women out their names, so it’s hard to sing about it. I have a Porsche Panamera, so it’s hard to sing about a Chevy. Point being, the industry is now about false illusions and statements. Perception is the name of the game. What people think about you. TO become a household name you first have to be honest with yourself.

What drew you to the entertainment industry, making music specifically?

Me being able to express my feelings through my music. Growing up I was quiet. I was able to express my feelings on the field by playing “football” on Friday night. When I got out of high school, college was the only way to get out I thought. College did not work out. God blessed me with making connections into the music industry. Like the Kadillac Boys & Wu from Macon Ga. Hanging around Wu taught me the business. I started back singing in talent shows. My first audience was in the town that I was raised in called Dublin, GA.

What do you want listeners to draw from your music?

Love is the only option. It’s ok to be free. It’s ok to be passionate about someone; you have love to fall back on. When you’re going through your tuff times, it’s so easy to throw on a song that relates to you. Well, my music is what all demographics can relate too.

Do you have a joint that you feel might be the best introduction to Chris Knite the artist?

Come Back To Me is the first song on my debut album “57“. This song describes me as an artists and more. This song represents me because I will never change who I am for the world. The songs basically express that it takes little or no time to hurt a person but a long time to fix the damage you have caused. The story of my life. I write music that people can relate to. Come Back To Me with production by 3PM is the perfect example.

What’s your personal passion outside of music?

The family is my passion outside of music. I’ve been taught that your first ministry is your home. You can’t lead if your home is not in order ~ Bishop D.M. Boyd

Sometimes people feed off what we give. A man is given every tool he needs to be successful. Sometimes we are so caught up in the fast life that we forget about what’s important. God and family…

The Hype Magazine wants to know, what’s been your craziest “Where They Do That At” moment thus far in your professional music career…

I was to open up for Soulja Boy in Savanah GA at “Tiger Arena.” I did a sound check and all and this ni**a did not show up for his own show.
