Miami Dolphins and Hyundai Distribute Thanksgiving Meals to the South Florida Community

The Miami Dolphins have always been known for their long-established reputation of giving back and serving the community. Over the years players, alumni, cheerleaders, and staff have been widely known to visit area hospitals, school, and community centers.

Each holiday season the Miami Dolphins team up with Hyundai to give away about 500 Thanksgiving meals to South Florida families. This year’s festivities was no difference as the day began with the Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Mike Tannenbaum, greeting each family, selected by Feeding South Florida, at the Dolphin’s training facility located on the campus of Nova Southeastern University.

“We’re proud to continue this long-standing tradition in South Florida with our team and coaches,” Mike Tannenbaum said. “We’re invested in giving back, and always look forward to this event around Thanksgiving to help bring joy to the holiday for those in need.”

After each family was greeted upon arrival, members of the Miami Dolphins team including coaches, players, T.D. (the mascot), and the Dolphins Women’s Organization alongside Hyundai staffers lined up to hand out meals from Publix that could feed 7 – 8 people.  Each meal consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, marshmallow delight and cranberry sauce. Also each family was given the opportunity to take photos with and get autographs from team players.

“Usually for most of the week we’re focusing on playing the game that we love, but there’s so much more that goes on in this community, it’s bigger than football,” Dolphins Defensive End Cameron Wake said. “When you get the time to step away from the game and focus on things that matter – like the less fortunate – doing whatever you can for the people that cheer you on and seeing the smiles on their faces with your brothers, it’s a tremendous honor and we’re having a lot of fun at the same time.”

For the past month, the Miami Dolphins have distributed gift cards from Publix and turkeys in an effort to feed over 1,500 families living in the South Florida community.
