Inaugural King Salman World Open Championships includes Women Categories

The Highest IQs in the World Compete for a Share of $2,000,000 and women are on the bill as well!

Chess fans and aficionados might want to bone up on their game…there’s a new world tourney about to jump off December 25th and the prize purse is a share of two million dollars…yeah man Chess Club looks real dope right now!!! The tournament is extra monumental due to the addition of the Women’s Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships.

King Salman has been an active leader in expanding opportunities for women in his country of Saudi Arabia, including his 2017 decree allowing Saudi women to drive. This tournament is another notable moment in world history for multiple reasons, imho. ~ JD

The inaugural King Salman World Open and Women’s Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships will begin on 25th December, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the first time in history.

The event, running until 30th December, marks an important advance in Saudi Arabia’s mission to become a sporting hub capital and provides a refreshing inclusion of women in such high profile public events.

THE WORLD’S GREATEST CHESS PLAYERS ASSEMBLE IN RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA FOR THE INAUGURAL 2017 KING SALMAN WORLD OPEN AND WOMEN’S RAPID & BLITZ CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The event is expected to attract more than 200 players from all over the world, providing aspirational role models for players in the region and sees famed male and female chess players compete on the World stage for a chance to prove their strategic prowess against some of the highest IQs in the world.

Notable players include record-breaking male world number one, Magnus Carlsen who will be looking to extend his unbeaten record and entice onlookers with his thrilling style of high-speed, high-intensity chess.
