Alaska Born – Atlanta-based fashion model Briana “Bri” Reid is on fire with a burning passion to become one of the top international models in the world. Born into a military family, she loves to travel and owns a fiery, adventurous personality. Bri began modeling at age 17 and has not stopped since. She has successfully walked in over 100 runway shows, worked with  top designers and photographers all over the country and began her journey into acting with brief big screen appearances in Insurgent (Lionsgate) and Goosebumps (Columbia Pictures)

Boasting a 5′ 9″ frame and 6′ wingspan, Bri’s runway walk brought observations that she was born with a walk similar to that of supermodel Naomi Campbel causing her to study Campbell’s runway walk like a mad scientist. Bri is also inspired by Maria Borges, Jasmine Tookes, Winnie Harlow, Liu Wen and Karlie Kloss.

The Hype Magazine got the stunning and talented Briana to weigh in on a few things

Congrats on surviving your military upbringing! With that one-of-a-kind experience growing up, from the outside looking in who is Briana Reid?

I am a very comical human being. I absolutely love making people laugh. It really makes me feel good to see people smile. Laughter helps us live longer. I love adventures. Something as simple as going to the city park can be a great story to tell if you’re hanging out with me. Lastly, I am a person who sees greatness in everything and everybody. I see the positive in negative situations no matter the circumstances. My energy is pure and not everyone can consume it.

Did you have any special challenges becoming a public personality as an actor, model, etc., considering the military influence of keeping your personal self, well, personal?

Before I even thought of becoming a model, I was an extremely shy and scary person. I hated talking to people, I didn’t have many friends. The military life for me was constantly moving, so I never had the time to develop a social life. This part of my life still dawns on me at times, it actually helps me keep my industry life and personal life separate by being very observant and knowing who not to talk to.

As a subject matter expert on fashion, what are a couple suggestions you might have for versatile looks that apply to the workaday ladies?

When it comes to a versatile look, you came to the right person! My go-to outfit for business, a date, or even simply going on a shopping trip would be a black bell bottom pant with a white cami shirt or crop top for the brave ones. With this outfit being plain yet sexy casual, the shoes will have to pop, so I would suggest a pointy toe heel that is a vibrant color to give the outfit your personality of the day. I know all my ladies have their lazy days and don’t want to get all dolled up. I know I have those days very often. I would throw on sweats and a t-shirt quick, fast and in a hurry, but sometimes I cannot do that. So my go-to outfit for a lazy day is a pair of Puma Fierce shoes because it’s my favorite sneaker, blue ripped mom jeans because they are super cute and comfortable and a graphic-tee in the summertime or a fitted sweater in the winter. If I want the outfit to look more pleasing to the eye I would add a gold watch or a sparkly choker.

What most excites you about the world of fashion?

FREEDOM of the fashion world excites me the most. I unquestionably love the fact that fashion is constantly changing. Trends are easily created and they come and go. A person can wear a fanny pack with bangs or wear a Nicola Formichetti dress and still receive acceptance from the fashion world. Fashion is expected to change and I am ready to change my outfits with it.

Beauty, is painful they say…what’s been the most painful look, pose, etc. of your career thus far?

Beauty is painful, but the end results are amazing and so worth the few minutes of pain. I remember the first time I got my eyebrows plucked. It was unequivocally the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I told myself I would never do it again, but once I saw my beautifully arched eyebrows and how it shaped my face, I just had to accept the fact that beauty is pain and that I would do it again.

Tell us three things you’d like people to know most about Briana the person?

  1. I tend to be a know-it-all. When it comes to things I am passionate about I feel like I do know more than the average person, only because I do my research; I dig for the facts. I communicate with those in the field who are successful and know what is relevant
  2. I have the biggest heart and will help anyone in need, but I am not afraid to say no and refuse to be taken for granted.
  3. Adventure is what I live for!!!! I will always live my life to the fullest. I advise everyone to live their best life. You only get one!

Outside of fashion, what makes you tick?

My 4 sisters. I have 2 older sisters and 2 younger sisters, which makes me the middle child. They keep me leveled, inspired, and focused. They are my motivation to do and be better. My 2 older sisters and I are all entrepreneurs and we give each other advice on business plans, finances, and future goals. They literally give me life. We are designed for greatness and plan to take over the Cooking, Hair and Fashion Industry. We are a triple threat and don’t plan on ever stopping. Even if the world isn’t ready for us, We Are Coming!!!

Reader Question:  What is your skincare regimen?

My skin routine is very simple. I have very oily skin, which means my skin is constantly dirty. I know what you’re thinking, “Gross!” but those with oily skin have to thoroughly wash their face to keep the dirt at a moderate level. I do the same routine in the morning and at night. I wash my face with Cetaphil daily facial cleanser with warm water, once my face is dry, I apply a small amount of cocoa butter Vaseline to my face. Oily skin has to be constantly moisturized or you will have more breakouts. I just hope my simple routine can help someone.

Reader Question: Is it difficult to find clothes that can handle your leg length? Any tall women brands you trust?

Yes, finding clothes that can fit my 6-foot wingspan is damn near impossible and finding pants that are long enough has gotten easier since I’ve grown some hips. I only shop at 2 stores when it comes to pants and that is Fashion Nova and ViVi Boutique. My biggest problem is finding jackets that are long enough for my arms. I had to purchase men jackets and coats for years before I discovered ASOS and J. Crew. Shopping is a lot easier and fun now.

Last but not least, The Hype Magazine wants to know what’s been your craziest “Where They Do That At?!” or WTF moment thus far in your amazing career?

My WTF moment was when I went to New York City and I just knew I was in the right profession. I knew that I was meant to be a model. Everyone in the fashion industry knows that NYC is the heart of it all and when I went to Time Square it was like my heart and mind became one and I couldn’t do anything but soak it all in. I felt star struck because I saw (imagined) myself on all of the billboards in the middle of Time Square and I just couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I literally eat, sleep and dream this life and I’m not stopping until I see my face in the middle of time square, but I won’t image it next time, I’ll be living it!!

Bri’s mission is to pave a pathway for those who have the drive for greatness, but don’t know where to start. She wants to inspire those with dreams to move in their own direction powerfully and confidently, deflecting any negative emotions that don’t belong to them, while gently and lovingly pushing through the ones that do.
