The Dallas Mavericks Defeat The Orlando Magic 114-99

The Dallas Mavericks were able to pull away late as they snapped their their-game losing streak in a 114-99 victory against the Orlando Magic. Mavericks’ rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. dropped 20 points on eight of Nineteen attempts from the floor adding seven rebounds and three assists. Dirk Nowitzki also had 20 points tonight on six of thirteen attempts and recording three rebounds in 24 minutes. Wesley Matthews was the Mavericks third-leading scorer with Sixteen points,  five rebounds, and assists. Harrison Barnes and Yogi Ferell both chipped in with fifteen points apiece, while JJ Barea added eight points and 12 assists.

We definitely played at a lot faster speed. That’s for sure,“ Ferrell would add. “If ‘Smith’ gets the rebound and sees me up ahead, he’s going to throw it up to me and vice versa. That’s what we do.

“We had Bad matchups, so we had to change it up,” Carlisle said of the third quarter.”You know, we had a couple of decent shots that just didn’t go in, and we just needed more quickness in the game. Yogi came in, and he really changed the game.”

As for the visitors the Orlando Magic, their leading scorer was Aaron Gordon, with Nineteen points, eight rebounds, and three assists off the bench. Magic point guard  D.J. Augustin added in eighteen points, five dimes, and three boards. Marreese Speights drops 13 points connecting on two-long balls while grabbing ten rebounds recording a double-double. Forward Mario Henonja added fourteen points in just 26 minutes of work, and Evan Fournier would add twelve points, four rebounds, and two dimes. Following the loss to Mavericks, the Magic fall to 12 – 29, while the Mavericks improve to 14-28.

Dirk Nowitzki ties  Los Angeles Lakers’ great Jerry West for sixth all-time for free throws made 7,160. Next up for the Mavericks is a one-game road trip to the east coast for a date with the Charlotte Hornets. Before returning home for a meeting with the Los Angeles Lakers and Lonzo Ball at the American Airlines Center on Saturday at 1 p.m. CST. Airing on Fox Sports Southwest and 103.3 FM ESPN.
