Virginia Rapper Infamou$ G Releases “Proper”

Infamou$ G has released “Proper”, a somewhat melancholy rap track featuring non other than himself as both producer and rapper. The Reston, Virginia native has been rapping for as long as he can remember, and producing beats to back his tracks for the last 4 years. Deciding to pursue his craft seriously as of last year, the rapper, real name Gabriel, has invested into building his own at-home studio and plans on consistently releasing new music as he builds a fan base. He considers the classics, such as Bone Thugs n Harmony, Jedi Mind Tricks, Eminem, and Tupac his greatest influences, as well as newer artists J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar.

Though Infamou$ G claims he had a “writers’ block” that prevented him from rapping for years, “Proper” is chock-full of catchy bars, “my diamonds on aquafina/ won’t see me just like John Cena,” he spits in one verse. The MC ties it back to the overall theme of the song – “Ya’ll don’t be acting proper” he repeats for the chorus. “Proper” starts slow, with some layered instruments in a solemn key before a gliding 808 drops to pick up the beat. Percussion kicks in around the same time as the flow starts. The track is something between a smoke-session background music, and a last-call-at-the-party tune.

The song comes with a visual, shot by Mario Hernandez, showing Infamou$ G on a roof, and as the life of the party in Richmond, Virginia. Look out for more music by Infamou$ G, to be released throughout February and March. Watch the video below, or click over to SoundCloud to hear the track.
