Phillips Arena- The Atlanta Hawks came out with energy and a sense of purpose in tonight’s game against the Grizzlies.

The Hawks closed down the passing lanes, tightened up on the perimeter and closed the Grizzlies out for 108 -82 at Phillips Arena in Atlanta Georgia.

It was the struggling Grizzlies their fourth straight loss. Memphis coach J.B. Bickerstaff was unhappy with his team from the start. He called his first timeout about one minute into the game.

“We got outworked. There’s no way around it. You saw it early in the game. We called a timeout a minute into the game. We weren’t prepared. It was an immature effort.” Memphis Grizzlies head coach J.B. Bickerstaff.

The Grizzlies committed 27 turnovers for the game, which was a season-high for them. 16 turnovers for 22 Atlanta quick points in just the first half. 21.7% shooting from three.

Dennis Schroder scored 22 points, five assists and broke down the turnover-plagued Memphis, giving the struggling Grizzlies their fourth straight loss.

The Hawks’ had the luxury of having 34 points lead, and Schroder enjoyed the opportunity to sit out the final period and watch the final minutes of the game on the bench like a fan.

”Of course that’s great to win like that. I think it’s tough to win in the NBA, but when you’ve got wins like this, it’s even sweeter.” Atlanta Hawks Dennis Shroder said.

It looked like Memphis was going to give the Hawks a game early in the period with Marc Gasol leading the way and only down by 7 points, 22-15 at the end of the first.

There were three ties in the first period before the Hawks pulled away with an 8-0 run that included a jumper and two free throws from Schroder.

The Hawks stretched the advantage to 51-35 at halftime and 32 points, at 75-43, in the third quarter.

Mario Chalmers had 13 points for the Grizzlies, which has lost six of seven. Dillon Brooks chipped in 12 points and four assists.

The story of the game was Memphis season-high 27 turnovers led to 38 points for the soaring Hawks.

“There’s something about us against Western Conference teams at home,” said Hawks rookie John Collins, who had 15 points, ten rebounds and one of the team’s 13 steals. ”We came out with the intensity, forced them to turn the ball over, and we executed on the other end.”

The Grizzlies made only 4 of 22 shots beyond the arc.

Tyreke Evans was not with the Grizzlies and missed his fourth straight game.

The Hawks 3-point specialist Marco Belinelli was held out as the team discussed a possible trade. Atlanta told the media that Belinelli sat because the team entertained a trade for the sharpshooting guard

“That’s part of the business. The NBA, you never know what’s going to happen. Marco, I’ve become good friends with him this season. He’s our brother, no matter what happens.” Atlanta Hawks Dennis Shroder said.
