Eagles Win Their First Superbowl And Nick Foles The MVP

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII.  Superbowl MVP Nick Foles outdueled Tom Brady, as he completed 28-43 passes for 373-yards, 3-TD, and one interception. Foles even caught a one-yard touchdown on a trick play from Tight End Trey Burton as they took a 22-12 over the Patriots right before the end of the half. Burton is a former A former quarterback at the University of Florida before making the transition to tight end.

The Eagles made history Sunday evening my capturing their first Vince Lombardi trophy, but it came at the expense of arguably the greatest quarterback to play the game of football.

Tom Brady in a losing effort on Sunday night breaks his previous record in the Superbowl with 505 passing yards.Both teams combined  1,151 total offensive breaking the previous record of 929 yards, which was set by the  Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins in Super Bowl XXII. Won by the Washington Redskins 42- 10.

In professional sports the slogan is offensive will keep you in the game, but defensive will won you champions. In Sunday’s game, there were not any turnovers until the closing minutes of the game. Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham come up with a crucial strip-sack on Tom Brady with 2:09 left in the game. In the ensuing drive, the Eagles would run the ball three straight times and would opt to kick attempt a field goal from 41 yards.  Rookie Jake Elliott would add three points to give the Eagles an eight-point lead.

The Patriots would get the ball back on their 91 with 58 seconds on the time clock. Patriots fans were hoping for another Superbowl fourth-quarter miracle that England has been accustomed to in years past, but it was not meant to be on Sunday night.

After the game, Tom Brady was asked if he would be back next year to which he responded “I expect to be back so we’ll see… It’s 15 minutes after the game end and I would like to process this a little bit and I do not see why I would not be back”

Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski was also asked about him considering retirement and he was shocked by the question and here is response “I don’t know how you heard that I’m definitely going to sit down and think about my future & see what happens from there”
