Premiere: Joey Stylez ‘My Neechie’

Canadian rapper and Indigenous activist Joey Stylez announces the release to his seventh album, The Star Chief, and shares the music video to its first single, “My Neechie.” The Star Chief is set for an April 7th release date and follows up his critically-acclaimed album, #Greymagic, which won an Indigenous Music Award for Best Rap/Hip Hop Album in 2017. A true nomad, Joey Stylez has been touring across North America with his multi-genre talents. His high-energy, interactive performances keep audiences captivated and empowered through lyrics and beats like no other. Stylez continues to perform in isolated First Nations reserves, working to empower and educate youth. His social activism emphasizes the social, political and economic struggles that young Indigenous men face, such as violence, addiction, and gang culture.

Hip Hop hits home for more people than we think. Many who celebrate the culture get overlooked in the industry maze. Joey Stylez is one who can’t be denied and his music is a showcase of all that Hip Hop was meant to be! “My Neechie” gets a 4/5 from for delivering on amazing story telling, insightful and clever lyrics and use of metaphor! Well done sir!
