6 Questions with Camryn Howard #IAMMUSICOLOGY CORNER

Camryn Howard left Sacramento seven years ago to follow his dreams in Hollywood. The last two years have proven to be worth the leap of faith he took to now be in the position he once dreamed of. In the summer of 2015, Camryn was cast as DJ Speed in Universal Pictures, Straight Outta Compton hit film. Though his character played a small part in the film, it’s opened up big opportunities for Camryn. Currently, he’s filming a movie that stars Alfred Woodard and he released his debut album Requiem just a month ago.

Here are 6 questions with Camryn  Howard.

Brittney: If it wasn’t for music I’d be …..
Camryn: I’ll be somewhere creating something.

Brittney: What message do you want your music to deliver to people?
Camryn: To live on FULL!

Brittney: List the top five artists you’d like to work with and why?
Camryn: 1. Kendrick! He’s a melodic genius, with a message and God like cadence.
2. Kanye West, because he’s fearless, a genius, and a trend setter with invaluable self-righteousness.
3. Childish Gambino. He’s a multi-tasking, hardworking left brained martian!
4. Outkast, because they are poetic and southern aliens from cousin planets.
5. Rihanna. She’s legendary and an unapologetic martian!

Brittney: Where do you see yourself a year from now?
Camryn: Amongst passionate creatives and preferably at the top of the charts.

Brittney: What’s the most bizarre things that have ever happened to you in the studio or while on set?
Camryn:  Well, making genuine relationships with people I’m inspired by. Surprisingly, this doesn’t come often or easily.

Brittney: How do you balance being an actor and a recording artist? If you had to pick one, which would you pick?
Camryn: I allow the opportunity to present itself and move in the direction that makes the most sense. I am an artist and both fronts allow me to display that. I can’t place one over the over, but I do believe the natural progression would be to pursue music first as that is the root. I was raised in an environment where acting complimented the presentation of the music so imagine acting being a brush and music being the paint.
