California State Legislature Recognizes Women of the Year
As we near the mid-way point of National Women’s Month, the California State Legislature recognized women from across the state who have served their regional communities with outstanding distinction. Today, Monday, March 12 2018, California Democratic Senator, Anthony J. Portantino of La Cañada Flintridge, brought his 25th district’s 2018 Woman of the Year, Glendale California City Manager, Yasmin Beers onto the floor of the Legislature for a special presentation.

Today, Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge, had the privilege to welcome Yasmin Beers to the California State Legislature to recognize her as the 25th District 2018 Woman of the Year.
“It is such an honor to be able to recognize Yasmin Beers as the 2018 Woman of the Year. She is an outstanding administrator, citizen, and leader and I want to thank her for all the work she has done for our great community,” commented Senator Portantino.
The California State Legislature has recognized March as Women’s History Month since 1987 and has continued the tradition. Senator Portantino is proud to have Yasmin Beers represent the 25th Senate District. She currently serves as the Glendale City Manager and is the first woman to hold this position.

Glendale is not only the community that I serve, but it is also my home. Portantino represents nearly 930,000 people in the 25th Senate District, which includes Altadena, Atwater Village, Bradbury, Burbank, Claremont, Duarte, Glendale, Glendora, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, La Verne, Los Feliz, Monrovia, Montrose, Pasadena, San Dimas, San Marino, Shadow Hills, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, Sunland-Tujunga, and Upland.
