0Exclusive: Dez Money Premieres “Real Money” Theme Via The Hype
Dez Money — son of rock & roll legend Eddie Money — is the frontman of the Los Angeles-based band Dez Money & The Faze. He also happens to be one of the stars of the new AXS reality show Real Money, which also features his music-oriented parents and siblings. Originally a drummer before evolving into a songwriter and frontman, Money’s debut full-length album was produced by Ty Stevens (Hilary Duff, Jennette McCurdy) and mixed by multi Grammy Award-winning engineer Chris Lord-Alge.
The Hype Magazine is proud to premiere the theme to Real Money — which premieres on AXS on Sunday, April 8 at 9:30 PM EST / 6:30 PM PST — as penned by Dez Money. The leader of The Faze also answered a few quick questions for Hype. More on Dez Money can be found at www.dezmoney.com.
Real Money aside, what is coming up for you work-wise? More work with your own band?
Dez Money: I’m extremely busy, as I have a full tour schedule with my dad. I open for my him and play for about 30 to 45 minutes. After that, I head back on stage to play a full concert as part of my dad’s band.
I’m currently putting the finishing touches on my second record, and I’m constantly writing and creating. I make it a goal to produce something new every day, even if it is just for fun. Yesterday, for example, I was hanging out with my dog, and I mixed his bark with a few sounds. I also enjoy working with my sister Jesse, collaborating on songs together. But I do try and make something new each day.
What was the last concert you attended for fun?
Dez Money: The last concert I went to was Metallica. They have their own world going on in their concerts—it is a very calculated show, everything they do has a purpose. And you could see how much their fans love them. I also enjoyed attending a Kendrick Lamar concert with my brother Julian.
Finally, Dez, any last words for the kids?
Dez Money: Be yourself, follow your dreams, and don’t take no for an answer. Be the best you can be and follow your heart. Don’t try to be someone else. Don’t change your style to fit a certain mold. Just be you.
