On Friday, March 2, Rémy Martin presented Common’s a Toast To The Arts at Ysabel restaurant in Los Angeles. Celebrities in attendance included  Mary J Blige, Tiffany Haddish, Gabrielle Union, Daniel Kaluuya, Kitty Cash, Amanda Seales, Bevy Smith, Angie Martinez, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Cidra Smith, Elaine Welteroth and more. 

 

For the event’s 4th year and to celebrate the 2018 Award season, the event honored Charles D. King, Dee Rees, Mary J Blige for MUDBOUND and Mr. Charles Burnett, 2017 Academy Honorary Award recipient. To open the event, singer Audra Day led the evening in a touching prayer to bring everyone together. As guests enjoyed dinner and special Oscar-themed cocktails by Rémy Martin Cognac, Common made a toast congratulating the black filmmakers, producers, and actors at this year’s Oscar’s Awards show. After dinner, Tiffany Haddish two-stepped the night away catching a quick dance with Mary J. Blige. Gabrielle Union came later in the evening and had a 10-minute conversation with Common gushing about his work.

Earlier this year, Rémy Martin supported film in partnership with Wanderluxxe during Sundance Film Festival 2018 with Common and John Legend with other celeb guests in attendance including Idris Elba, Craig Robinson, Jeffrey Wright, Robert Calspar, Lakeith Stanfield, and CEO of BET Debra Lee. At the event, guests enjoyed cocktails such as the Rémy XO Old Fashioned, Rémy Sundance Sidecar, and Rémy V Cosmo from curated cocktail bars as they enjoyed a private performance by Common, John Legend, and Anthony Ramos. Songs included hits such as “The Corner,” “Glory” and “Ready To Go Right Now.”
