Jayro Fuego – Hit A Lick

Rapper with ‘Flame Spitter’ delivery prepares to
drop new album ‘Gas’ on 4/20

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Jayro Fuego is a rapper whose nickname is “Flame Spitter”, a New Orleans’ native who is meeting high expectations. Fuego’s style can best be described as a triple cross between Lil Wayne, Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar. His skillset includes a combination of savvy wordplay, street appeal and “energizer bunny” tongue-twists and laser-sharp lyrics. And all of this will be on display in his new album, “Gas,” which is slated to drop on April 20.

“I don’t know where he gets his stamina sometimes,” said Fuego’s manager, Geedyboy, who is also the CEO of StreetRunner Entertainment and co-owner of one of New Orleans’s hottest bars, The Hangover. “He is seriously like the Energizer Bunny with his lyrics. That’s how he got the nickname Flame Spitter. He’s real good with tongue twists. And this album shows that off and will have a lot of appeal for a lot of people.”

Fuego’s unique style is one that has caught the attention of music industry insiders all over the country, including the producer for the album – a man by the name of Zachary Mouton who has been working with high-level artists in Los Angeles for the better part of the last decade. He first discovered Fuego when the young artist was only 14 years old.

“He was like a prodigy then, and now he’s 20 and becoming fully realized,” Mouton said. “His lyrical delivery is like no one else. He has all the new style flows, but his lyrics are ones you can understand. The speed and flow and quality of his voice is unique. You either have it or you don’t, and he can do all the flow and do it in a way that you can understand every word he’s saying. It’s really tight. And it’s that clarity and lyrical vision and a maturity beyond his years that makes him something special.”

Mouton said the new album is a modern-day version of Dr. Dre’s “Chronic” album, which was laced with hit after hit. It was co-produced by Johnny Beatz, with directors for two of the albums singles from Christopher Macken and Pallo Da Giint. The album is being released intentionally on 4/20 (the national “smoke” holiday), because Mouton said its one that people should listen to “while they do what they do.”

The first single off the album, “Snap,” has already been released and has been getting some traction and play in clubs and on radio already around the country. It’s a club banger with an upbeat vibe that gets people in the mood to have a good time, Mouton said. The follow-up single to that is “Hit A Lick,” which has a little more rock edge to it and uses a sample of Kurt Cobain. It’s a song about earning your due after you’ve put in the hard work, and it’s a metaphor for the success Fuego wants to experience with the culmination of this album.
