A Look At The New Collaboration Between Umami Burger & Cholula

Earlier this month, Umami Burger launched a “secret” menu item in collaboration with Cholula Hot Sauce: the “Sweet Habanero” Chick-Me-Out Burger. As helmed by Umami’s Chief Culinary Officer Chef Martin Heierling, the limited-time item marks Umami’s first-ever grilled chicken sandwich. The product kicked off on Cinco De Mayo, as exclusively available at select Umami Burger locations in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. This Adobo-Marinated Grilled Chicken Breast Burger is topped with Smashed Avocado, Pickled Red Onion, Lime, Green Mango Slaw & Charred Pineapple.

Of the instantly-popular sandwich, Chef Heierling told The Hype Magazine the following: “When I tasted Cholula’s new Sweet Habanero sauce, the sweet flavors inspired me to create our first grilled chicken menu item — something our guests have been asking for — but in an unpredictable way that only Umami could deliver.” He continued: “We’re really excited to share the Chick-Me-Out Burger, featuring Cholula’s new Sweet Habanero Hot Sauce, with our guests. It’s truly a match made in heaven.” Sadly, this special collaboration will only be available through June 5th.

Other notable collaboration of Umami Burger in recent years have included the Los Angeles-based ice cream sandwich maker Coolhaus and the meat-alternative leader Impossible Foods, so it is interesting to see Umami continue its culinary innovations in 2018 with Cholula.
