EXCLUSIVE: Blake Anderson On Cinco De Mayo, Working With Dos Equis & Enjoying “Workaholics”

As one of the stars and creators of the Comedy Central hit Workaholics, California native Blake Anderson is one of the more recognizable comedic actors out there. Yet Workaholics — which ran for seven seasons — is only one of the things which Anderson is known for. Beyond working on some of the most acclaimed comedies of the modern day (e.g. The Simpsons, Arrested Development, The Big Bang Theory, Parks & Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Entourage), Anderson has also toured successfully as a stand-up comic. His latest film project is Game Over, Man!, which features his Workaholics comrades Anders Holm, Adam DeVine and Kyle Newacheck, in addition to cameos from Shaggy, Fred Armisen, Joel McHale, Donald Faison, Action Bronson, Sugar Lyn Beard, Chris Pontius, and Flying Lotus.

As part of its new “Keep It Interesante” campaign, popular beer brand Dos Equis collaborated with Anderson to introduce Cinco Equis. While cans of Cinco Equis include the same beer found in a can of Dos Equis, the Anderson-approved Cinco Equis of course has three more X’s on the can. Anderson appeared in a pair of videos for Dos Equis — in partnership with Funny Or Die — to unveil the limited-edition Cinco Equis cans, which have been released in time for Cinco De Mayo 2018.

Anderson — who also has the acclaimed clothing line known as TEENAGE — spoke to me on behalf of The Hype Magazine about working with Dos Equis and plenty more. Highlights from that Q&A are below, while Anderson himself can be followed on social media via @UncleBlazer.
