Stance’s Albie Rosario On Socks, Katz’s Deli & Kendrick Lamar

Stance may be less than five years old as a company, but Stance has managed to turn socks into one of the world’s most exciting accessories. Stance socks are now found in over 40 countries, and rave reviews of its products have come from outlets as varied as Buzzfeed, Men’s Journal, Complex, Vogue, and Golf Magazine. Stance has also managed to stay fresh by collaborating with unlikely partners on limited-edition offerings, and one was done back in March with famed New York eatery Katz’s Deli.

If socks aren’t your thing, as you find yourself wearing sandals during the warmer seasons of the year, Stance also has a new line of men’s underwear to speak of. Stance offers men three separate fits — The Wholester, The Boxer Brief and The Boxer — in an array of visually-appealing prints for both the loudmouth and the minimalist. The Boxer Brief is interestingly made from a blend of combed cotton, poly blend and Butter Blend; the Butter Blend milk fiber is odor-resistant and luxuriously-soft.

On behalf of The Hype Magazine, I had the pleasure of doing Q&A with Albie Rosario, Men’s Lifestyle Director for Stance. Rosario opened up about that Katz’s collaboration and what else is coming up for the San Clemente, California-based brand. More on Stance can be found at www.stance.com.

How did the collaboration with Katz’s first come about?

Albie Rosario: I worked on a project with Katz’s five years ago when the restaurant was celebrating their 125th Anniversary. I kept in contact with the Creative Director, Ivan Tejeda, and owner Jake Dell. About a year and a half ago I messaged Ivan asking what they thought about a project with Stance for an upcoming anniversary and we started to build from there.

Do you have a favorite of the Katz’s-related designs?

Albie Rosario: Both designs are incredible and authentic to the history and experience of dining in the restaurant. Ivan Tejeda of Katz’s killed the designs.

Do you remember the first time you went to Katz’s?

Albie Rosario: My father was born and raised in New York City. He was the first person to take me to Katz’s as kid. I immediately loved taste of the pastrami, corn beef, pickles, and Dr. Brown cream soda. In my opinion, there is nothing that matches the taste of the food, experience and community that Katz’s delivers each time you visit.

Any idea how long the Katz’s designs will be on-sale for? Were a very limited amount made?

Albie Rosario: The Katz X Stance socks were made in limited quantities and are available for purchase at katzsdelicatessen.com.

Katz’s aside, any other collaborations or exciting things coming up for Stance?

Albie Rosario: We are constantly working on special projects as a brand. We have another restaurant project happening in April with Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles here in Los Angeles. The brand is excited to continue working with iconic restaurant establishments across the country.

What do you wish more people knew about Stance?

Albie Rosario: The time and effort that goes into making our socks and underwear. If you try a pair of our socks or even better try a pair of our “Butter Blend” underwear, you will see that quality is the cornerstone of our business.

When not busy with Stance, how do you like to spend your free time?

Albie Rosario: I race home every day to spend time with my family.

What was the last concert you attended for fun?

Albie Rosario: Kendrick Lamar’s Damn Tour at Staples Center, 2017.

Finally, Albie, any last words for the kids?

Albie Rosario: Enjoy the ride.
