Caitlyn Scarlett – B.I.G

Having been ensconced in the studio working on her forthcoming EP ‘Red Tape, Vol. 2’, Caitlyn Scarlett is pleased to announce details of a brand new track ‘B.I.G’ produced by in demand producer Eddy Atlantis (SNNY, Girli, Kyko, Tyne) due this May. ‘B.I.G’ follows previous tracks ‘Ornaments’ and ‘Happy When’ and once again portrays Scarlett’s natural talent and knack for a great melody.

Caitlyn details the track: “B.I.G is an overly arrogant, slightly vulgar and completely childish ego-trip track. I wanted to capture and distill that feeling of heinous ambition and “I’ll show you!!!!” a person feels when they’ve been put down and picked themselves back up many times over. For the cover artwork I decided to use a picture of me as a child with my red toy microphone, in hopes it would help people make the connection between immaturity and the root of the lyrics. The production is by Eddy Atlantis, who has a sort of ‘superego’ within his artistry as well, his sound makes the song exactly what it should be. This is a song for the underdogs, outcasts, singletons, drama queens/kings and those who don’t take themselves too seriously!”

Following the acclaim of her previous EP ‘Red Tape, Vol 1’ in 2017, Caitlyn garnered support from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, Clash, Wonderland, The 405, Huw Stephens, Radio X and BBC Introducing. Having already amassed over 6 million streams on Spotify, the young singer-songwriter finds herself collaborating with producers and artists such as MNEK, Shakka, DJ Dahi (Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean), MelO x (Beyoncé) and Levi Lennox – (M.I.A, Krept & Konan, Zayn Malik).

‘B.I.G’ is a continuation of a career full of promise. Born and raised in a small village called Bray, Caitlyn started writing her own songs at the age of nine. A self-taught guitarist and pianist raised in a musical household, she left home at seventeen for the bright lights of London, a move that looks to have paid off in spades as Caitlyn becomes one of the UK’s hotly anticipated acts for 2018.
