CMDWN ft. Chief Keef – Roxanne

Pioneering an addictive, cross-regional approach to late night rap music, Toronto duo CMDWN Collective is the next act from the Great White North to conquer America. Teaming up with Chicago innovator Chief Keef, CMDWN sahres the sinister and entrancing “Roxanne,” their latest single. Trading verses atop a haunting, bass-heavy, and harpsichord-laden instrumental courtesy of Dnny Phntm, Chief Keef and CMDWN’s Ca$tro Guapo boast about their cash and cars and swap vicious punchlines about their womanizing ways. “Roxanne” is the latest single from the upcoming Atlantada 2, the duo’s upcoming album. “Roxanne” follows the skeletal “Strong,” released in June, and the syncopated, spritely, and NOISEY-premiered “Hit & Run,” which features an appearance from Lil Wop.

Combining the gauzy R&B stylings of Toronto with the attitude and sonics of Atlanta’s trap scene, Atlanada 2 is a stylish synthesis of CMDWN’s appeal, providing a soundtrack for the turn-up or the waning hours of a night out. The upcoming project finds Atlanta rapper Ca$tro Guapo and Toronto singer FIJI blending styles from their respective hometowns into a fresh new cocktail. Click here to watch an ominous trailer for Atlanada 2, distributed by eOne Canada, featuring appearances from Chief Keef, Lil Wop, Key!, Nessly, Killy, Pressa, and Lil Berete, and production from WondaGurl, 1k, VillaBeatz, Dnny Phntm, and more.

Formed in 2014 after a store-closing party in Toronto, CMDWN makes music for the club and the delirious hours after the drugs wear off. Comprised of singer FIJI and rapper Ca$tro Guapo, CMDWN made inroads in the Canadian rap scene with their memorable melodies and southern rap influences. Last year, CMDWN released Castro vs. FIJI EP, which emphasized the different, yet complementary styles of the collective’s two artists. In the past year, the duo struck gold with collaborations, earning a guest spot from Nessly on their single “Die In Supreme,” and teaming with Lil Yachty for the party jam “The Way She Move.” Praised by Highsnobiety, PAPER Mag, Toronto NOW, and Noisey, among others, CMDWN Collective are an excellent bet to break out stateside. Look out for much more music from the crew in 2018.
