Tamera ‘Tee’ Kissen isn’t your normal social media influencer. Sure she’s got the looks and talent, but she’s also a model, actress and comedian on MTV’s hit show Wild N’ Out.
Not a bad resume for a girl who gained 1 million followers in just 6 months!
If you don’t know who she is, you should. With more than 1 million followers Tee is definitely the star to look out for this upcoming year.
I sat down with @himynamesteee to discuss social media, her career, future projects and more.
From stand up to Cover Girl, how did you get your start in the industry?
Tee Kissen: I started off modeling, but I’ve always been goofy. I was a model first and then came comedy.
How did you come up with the stage name Tee/ Himynamesteee?
Tee Kissen: Tee? Well she’s my alter ego. One of my best friends named her actually…
How long did it take you to build up your following on Instagram? Was there a strategy behind it? Was it thought out, or were you just trying to make funny videos?
Tee Kissen: I got to 1 million in 6 months. I didn’t have a specific strategy, I just paid attention to what people liked, what they didn’t like and tried to post every day. I just let “Tee” take control. Tamera would pop in, here and there, to try and add some structure to the madness. [Tamera laughs]
We heard you were going to be on the new season of Wild N’ Out. Tell us about your experience.
Tee Kissen: Omg! I had a lot of fun on Wild N’Out, but it was crazy! Imagine being with a whole bunch of other comedians every day! It was definitely an experience but a great one. The show really helped me get more comfortable in front of a live audience and I met some really great people along the way.
Who has been your favorite guest so far on Wild N’ Out?
Tee Kissen: Designer!!! Oh my gosh, his energy was so vibrant! He has an amazing soul and is all around a great guy.
Comedy, modeling, acting. You really are a triple threat. Is it hard juggling this hectic lifestyle? How do you balance all the projects that you are working on?
Tee Kissen: Thank you! Well yes, it is hard being me lol. It’s super fun because I’m always coming up with new ideas but sometimes it can be a lot to juggle. I just try to take it slow sometimes but it’s good, I have friends around to help me stay organized and sane! [Tamera laughs]
Most actors are very open to playing a wide variety of characters on various projects. Of course, good writing is key. What type of roles are you most intrigued by?
Tee Kissen: It’s going to sound weird, but I’m like the darker the better. I like morbid and awkward characters. I’m always intrigued by those type of people and when I’m acting, I love to the play those types of characters as well.
Tell us about any future projects you have in the works.
Tee Kissen: I can’t say much, but I can say that you’ll be seeing me on a screen near you!
What message do you have for your fans?
Tee Kissen: I always tell my fans this: Be yourself and love yourself, unapologetically.
