How Grey Goose Is Helping To Make New York City Even Better
Named the world’s best-tasting vodka within two years of its founding, Grey Goose was created by the Sidney Frank Importing Company. In 2004, the French brand not only became the best-selling premium vodka in the United States — going to sell more than 1.5 million cases in that year alone — but it was also acquired by Bacardi. A popular warm weather destination for New Yorkers is Governors Island, a 172-acre island in New York Harbor. It has been home to festivals, concerts, races, and art installations since Governors Island started offering weekend ferry service in 2010. But budget cutbacks and other logistics have limited said ferry service, making Governors Island less accessible. Thanks to Grey Goose, which began sponsoring late night Saturday ferry service in June 2018, the rest of Governors Island has followed suit to keep its doors open until 11:00 PM, positioning it to be “the” area’s new late-night hangout.

Once you’ve had time to take in the view, hop on a rental bike and pedal around Governors Island, taking in the car-less, peaceful grass-covered hills and the Island’s historic homes. Several of the other food and drink vendors at Liggett Terrace and Soissons Landing East have also added late night hours, extending your sunset dinner dates and bachelorette party evenings across the Island.
Grey Goose aside, 2018 has been a big year for Governors Island as it has hosted 2 giant public artworks by Jacob Hashimoto. In addition, the Island has added an “ice” skating rink, a taco stand, a “glamping” site, and started its first ever monthly outdoor movie nights.
