New Orleans Newcomers Playgroundz Drop New Music Video “Superfun”

The New Orleans Newcomers Playgroundz, made up of producer friends Dontae and Mello, releases their debut music video for their infectious new single “SUPERFUN” featuring Ash10k. Described as a kind of trap-folk song, “SUPERFUN” has a New Orleans signature jazz bouncy with a country influence mixed with a video game soundtrack vibes that is layered over trap drums with a swing.

The vibrant “SUPERFUN” video perfectly compliments the playful track opening with the scene of two ladies drumming to the beat with a pair of hot dogs and “buns” at Playgroundz’ poppin backyard BBQ. Dontae and Mello grill it up and get the party started as the video gets animated and takes us downstairs to a ‘70s-vibe basement with Mello, filled with more dancing women. The bright colors and upbeat tone transcribe the fun the two artists are having, making it perfect for any party.

Dontae had the idea for the track after playing around with trap beats made with a banjo, and then he and Mello recorded a freestyle about this crazy college girl who seems to follow them to every party and alway be down to get blasted. The duo is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their upcoming 8-track project set to drop this summer (to be announced), with all new songs including “SUPERFUN”, and are also working on a music video to accompany their first single.

New Orleans based production duo Playgroundz is comprised of childhood best friends Dontae and Mello. Growing up around so many big musical influences – Dontae’s cousin Lil Wayne brought him into the studio in high school and was heavily influenced by the Ca$h Money team. The name Playgroundz came from the idea that a playground is a place of recreation and freedom for the youth, and wanted their music to embody something that they could carelessly escape to.

Following high school, the guys both went to Jackson State University, but later decided to leave to pursue their career as music producers. Since then, they’ve worked with artists such as; Lil Wayne, G-Eazy, Neon Hitch, Pell, Chanel West Coast, Deion Gill, YM Flow, Gudda Gudda, Jay Jones, BTY YoungN, Neno Calvin, Mhadi G, Zoe Cartier, Lamont, & many more. Now stepping out as artists they want to inspire music fans with their upcoming project, but will continue to produce for other artists.
