Photos: 2017 NBA MVP Russell Westbrook Hosts 6th Annual ‘Why Not?’ Basketball Camp in Los Angeles

2017 NBA MVP Russell Westbrook held his 6th annual Why Not? Basketball Camp at Jesse Owens Community Regional Park in Los Angeles. The camp welcomed over 250 campers who received a full day of fundamentals and basic skills training alongside Westbrook, his brother Ray, family, and coaches.

The Why Not? Basketball Camp welcomed boys and girls with two age appropriate sessions, the morning for 7-10 year olds and 11-14 year olds in the afternoon. Westbrook acted as coach and referee through various basketball and endurance drills, scrimmages, and a mini all-star game. At the end, he took photos alongside the campers and awarded a handful of them with certificates and signed items. With the help of his Why Not? Foundation, Westbrook has continued to host his camp annually in the cities of Los Angeles and Oklahoma City.

About Why Not? Foundation:

Founded in 2012, Russell Westbrook started the Why Not? Foundation in dedication to supporting a community based education and family service programs. The foundation works to help children that are facing hardships of any nature to inspire, empower, and teach them to never give up while asking themselves “Why Not?”. Russell Westbrook and his brother were taught to ask “Why Not?” every time they were told they could not do something. It is this encouragement and strength that Russell and his family want to spread to children across the country.
