Oakland Speaks Through Philthy Rich
In the rap game, it kills to have life experiences, top notch lyrical intelligence and the slickest delivery in the game. With such a simple equation it may seem like its easy, but with all the new blood coming in everyday the uniqueness of everyone is starting to seem redundant, don’t you think?
All the way on the West Coast in Oakland, California comes the MC Philthy Rich who has been dowsing the game in hits since the early 2000’s and ‘10s. Philthy Rich has over a dozen projects in his discography from studio albums to mixtapes and even more singles and features to add as well.
To continuously build his discography Philthy put out N.E.R.N.L.4, a strong and tenacious studio album that came out earlier this year with features from known artist such as Tee Grizzley, TK Kravitz and Yhung T.O. The album covers a lot, from pointing out fakes on “Social Media Gangstas” to expressing the reality of the streets and how far he has come with its mesmerizing melodies and lyrical finesse on “Come From.”
In addition to the albums thought out blueprint, Philthy put young features on the album that were mostly from the Bay Area. He is in support of the young artist on the move in his city, as well as the community as a whole, which you can see from his popular back to school program on “Fake Love.”
If you are looking for an artist that exceeds the boundaries of his own transgressions, Philthy Rich is your man. He speaks not only through his own experiences, but of those around him and the community that impacts them as well. N.E.R.N.L.4 is a true piece of work that highlights Rich’s lifestyle and pulls the cover from your eyes about the reality of how to truly be real in these streets. So, if you’re going to pretend to be rich, at least pretend to be Philthy Rich.Tweet
