Fellow Simeon Career Academy Standout Jabari Parker Says Derrick Rose Is Still A Top PG In The NBA
Last week Derrick Rose and the Minnesota Timberwolves played the Dallas Mavericks and would finish with 28 points, five assists, and five rebounds. The Timberwolves came up just a little bit short as they would go on to lose 136-140. After the game, D Rose said the biggest that he took away was defensive because everyone that he was guarding made a difficult shot against him. He has to do a better job contesting shots and cutting his opponent off, but that will come as the season goes along. Rose is still trying to get his footing back coming off a leg injury last season.
Chicago native and current Chicago Bull Jabari Parker recently spoke with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on the Scoop B Radio about D Rose and getting back to being a productive player.
“When you’re somebody, you just don’t lose it,” Parker told Scoop B Radio. “You always are going to be the person that you are, and he’s going to continue to be the Derrick that we know; he’s going to be productive.”
Both Rose and Parker are alumni of Simeon Career Academy and had the opportunity to wear the number 25, who is an opportunity given to the best player on the team. This is a tradition that was started after the Simeon standout Ben Wilson was gunned down right before his senior year.
Parker told Scoop that “He was a big inspiration,” referring to Rose.
