Joji Gives Artistic Performance In “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK”

Joji is back and receiving ultimate praise for the release of his new song “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK,” and the music video certainly keeps up. Joji’s intense use of visuals along with his songs add to his creative aesthetic, and “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK” is one of his best. This single offers fans a glimpse into his upcoming album, Ballads 1, releasing October 26th.

Written by Joji and produced in collaboration with Chairlift’s Patrick Wimberly (production credits include Beyonce, Solange, MGMT, among others), “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK” is Joji’s take on the ultimate power ballad/torch song. Performed for the first time in May 2018 at Blurry Visions festival in Oakland, CA, “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK” is one of Joji’s most highly-anticipated releases to date, with bootleg copies from his performance of the song already garnering 500K views on YouTube and already inspiring covers and remakes on the platform.

The single follows Joji’s usual vision; his songs are characterized by down tempo, melancholic themes and soulful vocals, layered over lush grimy textures, blending elements of trap, folk, electronic, and R&B. Along with Joji’s musical takeaway, his music videos are the ones that truly capture an audience. Joji consistently brings a very unique, breathtaking performance in his visuals, and his new single does just that. His video casts an electric blue aura on the artist, following him through the streets as he’s physically in pain from heartbreak- it truly defines the emotional distress through a strong metaphor.

‘SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK’ is only the start of Ballads 1, and Joji is soon to return with more captivating, eye-opening cinematography and exceptional hits.
