Devin Dawson – Dark Horse

For a song that almost didn’t make his album, Devin Dawson’s “Dark Horse” is definitely living up to its name. Co-written by Dawson alongside Andy Albert and Andrew DeRoberts, it ended up becoming the title track on his Atlantic Records / Warner Music Nashville debut LP and now serves as the rising star’s latest single. According to American Songwriter, “Dawson gets raw and deeply personal [on ‘Dark Horse’]…it shows off the classic country vocals and acoustic guitar prowess he has come to be known and loved for. ‘Dark Horse’ gets to the heart of who Dawson is…” Called a “moody and confident stunner” by MusicRow, it showcases why his music “is true to country’s roots even as it stretches beyond them” (People).

“’Dark Horse’ is more than just the title track of this body of work – it’s the cornerstone, the glue, that tethered my entire debut project together,” says Dawson. “These lyrics not only encapsulate exactly who I am, but who I believe everyone is, or at least as been, at some point in their lives. This song is truly the magnetic force between me and my fans and has resonated with them in ways I never knew were possible. Because of that, this next single choice is without a doubt a fan driven decision. When people shout out ‘Dark Horse!!’ every night from the beginning of my set and scream when we finally launch into that opening riff, the feeling is indescribable. This song has an x-factor that gives it the ability to reach people, and that’s a connection we can’t ignore. I am so proud and excited to bring a song that means this much to me to the radio waves as my next official country radio single.”

Just before wrapping the second leg of label-mate Brett Eldredge’s “The Long Way” tour, Dawson announced his first-ever headlining tour, which kicked off November 1 in Columbia, South Carolina. Due to popular demand, the “Stray Off Course Tour” has now been extended through February 2019, with members of the “Dark Horse Family” fan club getting early access to tickets beginning tomorrow, November 6th (SIGN UP HERE).
