Jenna Cunningham presents new single “Blood In The Water”

Jenna Cunningham brings a refreshing new take on the term “art pop” with her latest single “Blood In the Water”. The LA-based singer-songwriter has delivered a dark yet dynamic track, highlighting her skillful musicality as a piano player and letting her vocals take the lead. The emotive song now has a haunting visual counterpart with the recently released music video for the track. Cunningham matches the song’s poignant melodic richness with a haunting video, depicting a lone man in the woods (played by fellow musician Ross Papitto) desperately wash the blood off his hands in a nearby lake. The optic story that unfolds is as gripping as the track itself, which was written and produced by Jenna (and mastered by Jeremy Johnston).

“Blood in the Water” is the first cut off Jenna Cunningham’s debut full-length release, titled Seizing Self. The album will be out at the beginning of next year. The Syracuse, New York native who now resides in LA, initiated her exodus to the West Coast in 2017 in pursuit of aggrandizing her music career, which she seems to be unequivocally doing, having already released two EPs, building anticipation for her debut LP.

Starting off with the family piano and the clarinet, Jenna has honed a unique style wherein she perfectly blends contrasting sonic sounds. While her vocal performance calls back to that of the ballroom darlings of the 50’s and 60’s, the electronica-inspired melodies compliment Jenna’s vocals, injecting her music with the innovative trends of modernity. Jenna evokes an image of what the stars of the past century could have achieved if they had the technology of today in their hands.
