Yesterday the Minnesota Timberwolves grabbed headlines they shipped veteran All-Star Jimmy Butler to Philadephia. In exchange for Robert Covington and Dario Saric, guard Jerryd Bayless, and a 2022 second-round pick for Butler and forward Justin Patton, sources said.

Following the trade, Butler will team with a young core that includes Joel Embed and Ben Simmons. The Philadelphia 76ers will spend the next few months trying to convince Jimmy Butler to sign with them long-term.

Bringing a close to the saga that has been a dark cloud hovering the Timberwolves’ locker room dating back to last season. Before the season Jimmy Butler and former teammate Andrew Wiggins along with his brother took jabs at each other on social media. Andrew Wiggins’ brother, Nick, tweeted “Hallelujah,” in response to the report that Butler requested a trade. Butler would respond to both by posting on his Instagram Story to  “keep that same energy” Andrew would then release his response to Butler’s IG Story “Old dudes stay hating like he was anything special bum ass … I keep that same energy everywhere I go!”NBA Champion and former San Antonio Spur Stephen Jackson released a video on Twitter, giving his opinion of how Wiggins should have responded to Butler’s comments. Butler is currently still on the Timberwolves roster, but the Wolves front office is still trying to field trade offers for him.

Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle shared his reaction to Jimmy Butler headed to Philadephia: ‘Doesn’t break my heart that he’s out of the Western Conference,’said Carlisle.

“I don’t know… I mean, obviously, we all know what’s been going on in Minnesota with Jimmy from the beginning. So I guess they both feel – I mean I think it’s good for both sides, I guess. They weren’t happy, Jimmy wasn’t happy, said LeBron James.

… I think [the Sixers] were a contender before. It only enhances what they are able to do. They’ve got Ben [Simmons] and Joel [Embiid] and now you add in Jimmy, I think that is going to be a very, very good team.”

“Jimmy is in a great situation he going to make that team even better,” George told me.

He added:

“I’m just happy for D Rose and everything he has been through. Just seeing good things happen for him.”
