Young R&B/Hip-Hop Artist Jay Sek Releases Emotional, Nostalgic Single “afterprom”
18-year-old R&B artist Jay Sek released the soulful ballad, “afterprom.” The track is an intimate account of heartbreak that blends R&B, hip-hop, pop, alternative, and soul. With the distinct crackle of a campfire in the background and the delicate strumming of a guitar, Jay Sek creates a dreamy and romantic atmosphere.
Jay Sek’s eclectic sound has the powerful ability to translate emotion and life experiences into relatable, moving music. His extreme emotions shine through in his lyrics and his heart-wrenching vocals allow a relatable listening experience. His sound draws inspiration from the late XXXTentacion, one of his favorite hip-hop artists whose music helped him through challenging times.

Jay Sek is from Plainview, New York, and began his freshman year at Hofstra University this fall. New York City has had a tremendous impact on his writing, exposing him to a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds, and giving him an opportunity to meet new people, have new experiences, and feel new emotions. Jay Sek wants listeners to hear these experiences and follow along with him on his journey.
Early in his career, he already has almost 3,000 followers on Soundcloud and has increased his fanbase worldwide. He has opened for Famous Dex, Rich the Kid, and Jaden Smith. Along with “afterprom,” he has already released several other singles.
