Who Is Ty Brasel?
Back Story – Ty Brasel- recently made his 4 Against 5 (IVAV), a division of Curb | Word Entertainment label debut with Destined for Greatness. The album released in December and gives some insight into a man changing course…for the better.
He goes in depths in his lyrics talk about his life being in and out of jail and struggling with drugs and alcohol, and when he had a spiritual awakening that reminded him, if he kept going down this path, he would ruin his life.
Stylistically, he draws inspiration from the southern trap style rap he was raised with on the outskirts of Memphis, Tenn., as well modern day’s chart-toppers like Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper.
Fans are quickly resonating with Ty and his music, attracting over 8 million on-demand streams, 2.1 million YouTube views with over 565k Pandora lifetime streams. Additionally, the breakout artist has shared the stage with award-winning artists like KB and Trip Lee, headlined sold-out shows & toured around the country and in 2019, he will be joining the Winter Jam tour alongside Danny Gokey, Newsboys United, Dan Bremnes, Mandisa and others.

From the outside looking in, who is the artist Ty Brasel?
I am a complex person with a love for the arts and sports. I am a poet. I am a dreamer.
What brought you to the entertainment industry, music specifically?
I feel that God called me to do music. I was always surrounded by music. I always had a love for it and a gift for it. I realized in college that 9 to 5’s and studying books wasn’t what I was made to do.
Tell us about your current project and what it means to you in the grand scheme of things
‘Destined For Greatness’ is a special project to me. It is the culmination of all my stylistic expressions throughout my career. It is my most vulnerable music to date. The production is amazing. I’m very excited about it.
Outside of your own joints, what would be your top-10 playlist?
I have a playlist that I curate called “GodlyVibes” on Spotify. I put all my favorite music in there so you can check out what I’m listening to.
Tell us a bit about your work and passions OUTSIDE of music…
I love to eat all types of food. I’m definitely a food junkie. I also like to watch basketball and football. I’m a sports guy. I love to laugh and make people laugh. All of that.
Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” aka WTF?! moment…
I don’t really know how to answer this question but I guess one time I saw somebody do a stage dive straight into the floor lol I would rather just stay on stage and find another way to make the show exciting.
