Berner, Mozzy – Slimey Individualz

Celebrated NorCal rappers Mozzy and Berner deliver West Coast vibes with their collaboration album Slimey Individualz, available now. The 10-track project, distributed via Bern One Ent/Mozzy Records/EMPIRE, is loaded with features including hip-hop heavy hitters YG, Wiz Khalifa, Logic, Rexx Life Raj and SOB X RBE. Both Berner and Mozzy offer up gritty, no holds barred lyrics over beats that ring true to the signature Sacramento/Bay area sound. Last month, the duo dropped the visual for “Solitary” feat. Wiz Khalifa, and just released the video for “Thug In Me” feat. Godholly.

Slimey Individualz is Mozzy’s first music drop since the release of his highly-praised solo album Gangland Landlord, which earned a spot on several publications’ “Best of 2018” lists including Noisey’s “100 Best Albums of 2018,” The Atlantic’s “23 Best Albums of 2018,” and LA Weekly’s “Best West Coast Hip-Hop Albums of 2018.” Stream Gangland Landlord HERE. ABOUT MOZZY
Authenticity is like pornography—you know it when you see it. Or hear it, in the case of Mozzy, who makes music about his life growing up on the streets of Sacramento’s challenging Oak Park neighborhood. Over the last few years, he’s emerged as one of hip hop’s most essential storytellers. He raps with unmistakable patina of truth about the grinding realities of drugs, gangs and violence. Mozzy’s father was a felon and his mother was absent; he was raised by aunts and his grandmother, a member of the Black Panther Party. Mozzy grew up with an intimate understanding of the drug trade, both the luxurious lifestyle it can provide and the drastic risks it carries. When he started rapping, he was determined to present street narratives with the nuance they deserve. Mozzy first acquired national attention in 2015, when he released a series of full-lengths including Yellow Tape Activities and Bladadah. He caught the eye of a number of national outlets with his compelling blend of richly detailed narratives and hard-hitting production infused with lush NorCal funk. Mozzy’s recent features include “Seasons” (with Sjava and Reason) on the Grammy-winning Black Panther movie soundtrack and “Too Brazy” on YG’s Stay Dangerous album. He released his latest solo album Gangland Landlord in 2018 to critical acclaim.
