Dear Boy Share Official Video For “Semester” With Flaunt; The Strawberry EP On March 1

Los Angeles-based band Dear Boy is excited to release the official video for “Semester” from The Strawberry EP which will be released on March 1 via the band’s own label Easy Hell and Burnside/The Orchard (pre-order). The video which was directed by Samuel Bayer (The Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, The Jesus and Mary Chain, David Bowie, Green Day, The Strokes and more) premiered today at Flaunt Magazine and is also available to share at YouTube. About the video Dear Boy’s Ben Grey says:

We realized that Dear Boy had never made a performance video… And so when Sam approached us about working together, it was not lost on us that we were talking about doing one with the person who essentially created the performance video.

We shot it during one afternoon at our friend’s art gallery, Noh / Wave in Downtown Los Angeles, against some beautiful Aaron Westerberg paintings, in 100 degree heat… it was sweaty and gnarly and special and we’ll never forget it.
Dear Boy will be headlining the Teragram Ballroom on March 8 at part of the KROQ Local’s Only Festival and performing in March at SXSW. All upcoming shows are listed below.

Dear Boy had an immense 2018. They were hailed as one of the best bands in Los Angeles by critics and music publications, sold out multiple hometown shows, embarked on a full US tour with Rogue Wave, while also playing dates with Day Wave and Sunflower Bean. Dear Boy will perform at SXSW this spring and will announce additional shows in the coming weeks.

The four band members and real-life friends that make up Dear Boy (vocalist Ben Grey, guitarist Austin Hayman, drummer Keith Cooper, and bassist Lucy Lawrence) have made something that is deeply personal while celebrating their city and challenging the direction of modern guitar music.

Along with a wildly devoted fan base, the band has inspired the respect of fellow artists, so it should come as no surprise that The Strawberry EP features appearances by their friends Day Wave, Hazel English and Patrick Spurgeon of Rogue Wave. Produced by Dear Boy, and mixed by Tony Hoffer (AIR, Phoenix, Beck, M83), the EP once again showcases the band’s ability to craft bittersweet songs pulling from late 70’s / early 80’s Post-Punk and early 90’s Britpop, large enough for arenas, but intimate enough to be with you during your most private moments.
