Rose In Good Faith Launches Ed Hardy Collaboration
Rose In Good Faith x Ed Hardy Collaboration Available Exclusively At Nubian In Tokyo And Online
Cult luxury ready-to-wear brand ROSE IN GOOD FAITH have released their collaboration collection today with ED HARDY, the iconic 2000’s brand culturally significant for its bedazzling and maximalism.
Loved for modernizing and revolutionizing nostalgic pop-culture, Rose In Good Faith is conceiving a new space in luxury fashion, disrupting status quo, and playfully bucking the collaboration system.
2017 brought JNCO back into the fashion narrative with a widely publicized high-end collaboration; playing with pastiche, irony, and maximalism. Now, Rose In Good Faith is disrupting design authenticity once again, re-interpreting Ed Hardy with the edgy, emotional, and authentic spin, one comes to expect from ROSE IN GOOD FAITH.
Akiva Alpert, Co-founder and Creative Director of Rose In Good Faith said,
“This is fundamentally a design language and vision that is Rose In Good Faith. There is no question of the impact Ed Hardy, and Christian Audigier had on the modern streetwear movement, period. In many ways we are paying homage, however, if Ed Hardy’s origins were rock n’ roll, for me, this collection is hardcore, this is death metal.”
Limited to only 300 pieces, ROSE IN GOOD FAITH x ED HARDY collection (prices range from $395 – $1,096 USD) is available exclusively at NUBIAN’s Harajuku location and online at https://www.nubian-ave.com.
About ROSE IN GOOD FAITH:
Inspired by the various subcultures of Akiva Alpert’s youth in the 2000s post-hardcore and metal scenes, LA-based ROSE IN GOOD FAITH channels elements of millennial nostalgia, fused with bold colorways, and contemporary flair for the dramatic; launched in 2016 by designer Akiva Alpert.
About THE LOOKBOOK
Shot on 35mm and disposable cameras; these images capture the raw energy of Akiva’s favorite memories from his teenage years.
On weekends, you could find Akiva at the parking garage adjacent to his favorite venue with his tuner car; pulling up to the Friday night local hardcore show.
“I wanted to capture specific nuances of the pre-concert experience such as hanging near the tour-van while equipment is being loaded in and hearing the guitars, and drums being tuned on stage, “ says Akiva Alpert.
About THE COLLECTION
Handcrafted in Los Angeles, the collection features highly detailed hand-treatments and rare materials, sourced all over the world.
Triple-weight French Terry hoodies are appointed with cashmere-blend ribbing, sterling silver plated gauged piercings (a reference to Akiva’s piercings over time), and a bespoke three-day dye process or “full-bleed” gradient-spray-dye, referencing the painting process of import-tuner cars.
Not to forget, the collection is dripping in Swarovski crystals.
On Akiva’s inspiration,
“For a collection this polarizing, the aim was to bring a heightened level of intensity. My inspirations are from the worlds of metal and hardcore, so bringing ED HARDY into the ROSE IN GOOD FAITH world meant taking the brand from its roots in rock, and throwing it in the middle of the mosh pit during the heaviest breakdown.”
On his process with the Ed Hardy artwork,
“The focus has been pushing the boundaries of appliquéing; be it by utilizing thousands of Swarovski crystals, or various new techniques, which are going to be seen in the upcoming main collection. It’s combining the artwork in a way that compliments the extremism of the ROSE IN GOOD FAITH fitment language.”
On Ed Hardy?
“I wanted to work with ED HARDY on this project as the brand was not only extremely nostalgic for me, but its narrative set a standard for modern maximalism. In many ways, the original brand helped godfather elevated streetwear as we know it. It represented one of the most iconic, polarizing, and extreme moments in fashion, period.
