Shy Girls Announces 3/1/19 Release Date For Album, Bird On The Wing

Shy Girls announces his sophomore album, Bird on the Wing, will release March 1st, 2019 via Keep Cool Projects/RCA Records. Today, he also releases a new self-produced single, “Lay and Be Lonely.” In recent months, Shy Girls has set the stage for his forthcoming album with a string of well-received singles that reiterate how he’s “making music that’s meant to last and continues to evolve.” (Highsnobiety) Listen to “Lay and Be Lonely” here: http://smarturl.it/LayAndBeLonely

In support of the forthcoming album, Shy Girls announced that he’ll be headlining a Bird on the Wing North American tour with direct support from Dutch artist, Eevee. Kicking off in Seattle on April 18th, the 20-date tour will make stops in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, before wrapping up in San Francisco on May 18th. Bird On The Wing, the long-awaited follow-up to Shy Girls’ 2017 debut album Salt, is a retrospective on Shy Girls’ self-sustaining creative process. With “opulent soundscapes that elevate Shy Girls’ signature warm vocals” (Billboard), the new project is an uplifting mixture of lo-fi soul, minimalist grooves, and an undercurrent of contemporary R&B — an extension of sounds fans and critic have come to recognize Shy Girls for. “Back with new music that compounds on what Shy Girl does best: emotionally evocative melodies with production that bumps,” (Complex) the latest singles, “Hallelujah,” “Headfucked” and “This Is Your World,” set the stage for Shy Girls’ return.

Shy Girls, the moniker for artist Dan Vidmar, first came to attention in 2013 with his slow burning, sax-tinged “Under Attack,” garnering an impressive review from Pitchfork.  He followed that up with the release of his buzzed-about Timeshare EP, subsequent 4WZ mixtape and – most recently – the progressive and cinematic opus Salt, which was his full-length debut. Shy Girls has collaborated with artists such as Cyril Hahn, Tei Shi, Rome Fortune, Junglepussy, and ODESZA, and has toured with HAIM, Little Dragon, and Maxwell.
