5 Reasons Why You Should Get Onboard With Goldbelly

Beyond being called “one of the 50 best websites in America” by Time and “one of America’s best new food companies” by Fox News, Goldbelly has received rave reviews from Departures, Good Morning America, BloomBbrg, Forbes, and Fast Company alike. Simply put, Goldbelly is on a mission to “discover America’s most loved regional foods” and then “ship ’em to your door.” In turn, it is a hub for ordering fine steaks, seafood, pizzas, desserts, soups and gluttonous comfort food alike.

I had the opportunity to try Goldbelly — as found online at www.goldbelly.com — and below are five interesting things I picked up on as a result of both using Goldbelly and doing some related reading.

1) Its founder is very hands-on with the site’s food selections.

Joe Ariel is the Founder and Chief Eating Officer of Goldbelly. Ariel and his team of “food explorers” actually travel across the country to seek out America’s most legendary local dishes. The inspiration for Goldbelly came to Ariel after graduating college in Nashville, moving to New York, and longing for delicacies from his beloved college town. Ariel decided to reach out to Loveless Cafe, The Rendezvous, and Prince’s Hot Chicken to see if they could ship his cravings north, and not too long after that, Goldbelly — initially written and branded with one less “L” as “Goldbely” — was born.

2) Danny Meyer is an investor in the site.

just last month announced Danny Meyer’s $20M investment in the company. Danny Meyer is not only the founder and CEO of the Union Square Hospitality Group, yet also the overseer of the USHG’s investment arm Enlighted Hospitality Group. Yes, that Danny Meyer from Shake Shack. Last year it was announced that Meyer was investing $20 million USD into Goldbelly via Enlightened Hospitality Investments in a series B round of funding. As per what drew Meyer into investing in Goldbelly, which he was already a customer of, per an interview with Forbes: “Taste. Goldbelly has an incredibly high bar for what qualifies to earn a place in its collection… At a time when food lovers are seeking both experience and convenience, Goldbelly is a rare business that can do both.”

3) You can get just about any kind of cuisine, snack or regional specialty through Goldbelly.

Reportedly, Goldbelly currently works with works with 350 food makers in 46 states. This includes Louie Mueller Barbecue in Texas, Ess-a-Bagel in New York, Knaus Berry Farm in Florida, The Maui Cookie Lady in Hawaii, Pat’s King Of Steaks in Pennsylvania, McLoons Lobster Shack in Maine, and O&H Danish Bakery in Wisconsin. So not only would it be impossible to run out of new ordering options from Goldbelly, but with a little advance planning, you can the world’s most decadent dinner party for a fraction of the price of traditional local catering. Think about it: there is no reason that you can’t have a Chicago-style pizza, a Philly-style cheesesteak, real Buffalo wings and a New York-style cheesecake all in one meal.

4) The site offers plenty of interesting subscription options.

Plenty of websites offer food-oriented subscriptions, but the “Epic Food Subscriptions” of Goldbelly definitely take things to a new level. Among the current subscription offerings are cakes, pies, bacon, ice cream, BBQ and pizza. These subscriptions can be enjoyed in monthly, six-month and annual installments. No matter the cuisine or establishment you choose from, you can rest assured that you are getting top-quality wares from a hand-selected restaurant, butcher and/or bakery.

5) The prices are a lot better than what you would think.

Taking Mighty Quinn’s BBQ, as a random example, its Mighty Quinn’s BBQ Sampler Pack is currently priced at $125, as intended to serve between 10 to 12 people. But then factor in the fact that you can easily find a $15 off coupon for your first three orders — as of this article’s writing — and that the item ships for free. Then factor in that you are not paying a 15 to 20 percent gratuity for the service associated with getting that pack of ribs. Also consider that you are not paying for gas, parking or any form of transportation to get that meal. Furthermore, that you can have those ribs (and side) wherever and whenever you want. And now you probably see why Goldbelly is a game-changer.
